Gov. Blagojevich today is expected to name former state Comptroller and Attorney General Roland Burris to Illinois' vacant U.S. Senate seat, a knowledgeable source said this morning.
A news conference is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Sweet: Burris to be named to Obama's Senate seat
Former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris, 71, had lobbied the governor for the position in recent weeks.
Burris made a previous attempt at the Senate seat in the past -- unsuccessfully. In 1984, he was beat out for the Democratic nomination by Paul Simon.
How much did Burris put in Blago’s Cayman Island bank account?

The guy is 71....I’m suspecting this is simply a short-termer and he assured the party that he won’t run in 2010. This is the quickest way to get out of this mess. We can at least admit this guy has ten times the experience as Obama...for the Senate job.

The really funny thing about this whole mess is to watch all of the Chicago crooks, from the legislature to the office of President Elect, going through fits every time Blago pulls another stunt.
They want this guy gone, gone, gone. Not because he’s a crook, but because he’s bringing the bright lights on all of them.
