When Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin confirmed that her teenage daughter, Bristol, and boyfriend Levi Johnston were expecting a baby, the celebrity weeklies knew that the first photos of the Palin-Johnston baby would incite a bidding war. Baby Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, born Dec. 28, proved those editors right.
According to one source, bidding for the baby photos began at $100,000. People won out in the end, but In Touch was the only other weekly to make serious bids, according to several sources involved in the process. The price didn't soar immediately, according to the sources, because Sarah Palin stories just didn’t sell all that well for the weeklies on newsstands.
“Sarah was on the cover of People, Us Weekly, and OK! the same week, and really only People saw a bump in sales," says a source.
The drug-related arrest of Johnston's mother, however, caused the price tag for the photos to go up.
“The bidding started well before the baby was born, but once Levi’s mom was arrested — well, then you had a story,” says one editor.
As for how much teen parents Bristol and Levi made from the deal — most estimates hover around the $300,000 range (none of the magazines would confirm the exact figure in the end, which is standard).
No word on whether the money will go to charity, as sometimes happens in a celeb baby deal.

I think it was actually the support FOR Palin that led to the attack. BTW the person attacked in the F93 post is a good freeper and didn’t deserve it either.
I heard it and read the transcript as well... Bill O’Reilly played it on his show tonight, he was just shaking his head.
I’ll defend Sarah til my dying day. That is how much respect I have for her. There are a lot of nut jobs in this world, the kind that will target an innocent baby, or someone that will target those who died on a plane targeted by terrorists. It’s a sad state of affairs we live in, unfortunately this election showed me that this country is not the same country I once knew, I never knew people had this much hate in their hearts.

Oh unfortunately many did know what they are doing, they are expecting free gas, free mortgage, and free food, if Obama delivers on that sick message who knows, but I did hear today on Fox News that he does plan on going ahead with his tax increase, so that is already a bad sign. It’s gonna be a long and crazy 4 years, we will survive it but at what cost, that is the question

If we keep printing money at this rate we are going to end up with rampant inflation like they experienced in the Weimar Republic... no one is going to get their food or mortgage paid for if that happens.
I agree, and maybe I was just naive or not paying attention but I never knew the media could be this bad. Was it always this bad?? There used to be a time that I could actually watch MSNBC and CNN, I can’t even pass by those networks anymore, I understand that these “journalists” are people too and they have their opinions but I thought they were supposed to keep it to themselves. The hate towards Sarah was insane, I haven’t seen anything like this before. But then my cousin told me how bad the media treated Reagan, told me all the nasty names they used to refer to him as so I had solace in knowing that the leftist media fear Sarah like they feared Reagan, didn’t make me feel any better but knowing that Sarah and Ronny are in the same company makes me smile, but yeah, the media is sick, with their lies, their nasty comments.
