Think about it, you were in the fund in 2002, got paid 15% returns on your money through to end of 2007, took all your interest income out... how much did you lose, really?

There seems to be an endless list of people and organizations that lost “billions” through Madoff. From reading those articles, my impression would be that several hundred billion — maybe a few trillion dollars were lost — not a trifling $50 billion.

Then there's the nouveau riche in Miami who airily toss off how many millions they lost with Madoff even though they're barely making their mortgage payments.
