The best than can be said about Condi Rice at this point is that she was an improvement over Colin Powell. And horse crap stinks less than cat crap.

I do think many “average” Americans are encouraged by Oprah’s Choice. Many think this will make it easier for them economically though there is no real way that can be the case. In politics, perception is reality, as Reagan once noted. Remember, there was an African American woman in FL who said in October that Oprah’s Choice would make it possible for her to keep her house and put gasoline in her car. People do have high expectations, and Oprah’s Choice will not be blamed when it all turns out to have been a hoax. The American people don’t like to admit they were taken as suckers.

I am hoping that since we survived Albright, Powell, and Rice at State, maybe ol’ Hill won’t be able to throw up the white flag of surrender, but we never know about the American people and their choice of “leaders”.

Genetically, I suppose that was true. However, since he was actually raised by his maternal grandparents (the Native American half) on the Kaw Reservation, that makes him more Native American than it would make BO black, who was mostly raised by his maternal grandparents (the white half) in Hawaii.

Even BO's father's side is, at most, 3/4th black, the other 1/4th being Arab. So, genetically, BO is only 3/8th black, at most.

I am up to my ears with people of color insisting we don’t speak of it or notice it - that we are all equal and in the same sentence they define their own differences with their own words.

You are American, born or legally reside in the United States of America, no matter your ancestry or whatever else you claim as your ‘heritage’ - you are American.

Never seen so much racism as the African descendents practice.

There are several problems with your story:
(1) Obama’s father came to the U.S. to get his bachelor’s degree from University of Hawaii and later his graduate degree from Harvard;
(2) We don’t know if he really married a white American woman...that is still a mystery; and,
(3) No one knows if O’s ancestors came to the U.S. as a slave.
As for his experience being closer to Asian-Americans than African-Americans, well, I don’t know about that. I don’t know any Asian-Americans (you can guess that I came from that milieu) who would let his own brother, albeit half-brother, live in squalid conditions and who would not attend his own grandmother’s funeral when he has the means to do so. Asian-Americans, with rare exceptions, are very tender and loving about their family.

Enough said.
Moreover, is he the first POTUS born to a non-American citizen? Would the same hype have been given if one of our previous president’s parents was never an American citizen? Just wondering...
No, that distinction would belong to George Washington, as well as the next three presidents.

“I think all Americans were quite taken with the fact that we were able, after the long history we’ve been through, that initial birth defect of slavery, that we’ve elected an African-American.”

The only people who think Obama’s election is anything special are the people who still believe America is a racist nation. If MLK’s dream had really come to pass, Obama’s election wouldn’t be any different from a white man’s.

How right you are. I’m so sick of hearing about race. It’s all they talk about and he is half black, he isn’t the average Afro-American. It’s getting old real fast. I wonder what people would say if he called himself Caucasian since he is half white, then harped on that all the time. It’s getting ridiculous.

Thank you, Northern Yankee. I keep thinking about what MLK Jr. said, and this is NOT what happened. This was a giant step backward, not forward. Wrong again, Condi. All the education in the world doesn’t make you smart.

I stated alot not all and they are deep in the closet about it. This is the tool of intimidation that the other party I believe has over certain people in the party. It matters because the Republican Party campaigns on a certain moral platform and has alot-not all-prominent members preaching this and living a closeted lifestyle. That is the antithesis of what the party stands for, and that is hypocritical. I will try to send to the links as soon as possible, bear with me as I also have a demanding toddler to deal with. Take care and Have a Happy New Year./Just Asking - seoul62.......

Gee, I hadn't really thought back that far. Thanks for the history reminder.
