Pray for President Bush and America - Day 3028
28 Dec 2008 | Blogger

Isaiah 25

6And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

7And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.

8He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.

9And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Dear Lord, We come to You this day in aware of the momentous times we are in. For our own nation, much is hanging in the balance, with the apparent scales tipping towards judgment. For Your people Israel, there are also great challenges that by conventional wisdom they would not overcome. But wisdom is not conventional. Each time and each event some how fits into Your plan. We know that Israel will ultimately survive and we know that Your people here will be held by Your hand through whatever adversity comes our way. And so, we rest in You.

We pray for the Bushes as they are no doubt beginning to pack up things in the White House after 8 years of trial and trouble. A melancholy spirit might take over them, or that of just fatigue. Lift them up with Your hand and guide them by Your Spirit. And Lord, let them know You as they need to know You for now and for eternity.

I pray for the Israelis and for the Palestinians. The Israelis have a right to live peacefully in the land You gave them. Some Palestinians do not want war. Bless both the Israelis and the peaceful Palestinians while helping Israel to obliterate the terrorists from Hamas, Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade and other places. I know there won't be ultimate peace until the Prince of Peace comes. But I do pray for the comfort and protection of Your dear people. May they come to know You as their God and may they be Your people.

I ask that You go with us the rest of this day. Be with Free Republic and for those who are so faithful to pray. For it is in Jesus' blessed name that I pray these things, Amen.

Soul Food
Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart. —Jeremiah 15:16

Grocery shopping with my wife, Martie, is like taking a seminar in nutrition. I’ll often pick up a box of something that looks good, and she’ll say: “Look at the label. Are there trans-fats? What’s the calorie count? How about the cholesterol rating?” I have to confess that if she weren’t the nutrition cop in my life, I’d look like Shamu the whale!

More important than making good choices in the grocery store is thinking carefully about the food we digest for our souls. I love the verse that says: “Your words were found, and I ate them” (Jer. 15:16).

When we read God’s Word, we have to be doing more than checking it off our to-do list. We have to read it to digest it. Slow, thoughtful absorption of the Word of God with quiet reflection on its implications is high in nutrition. His Word provides all the ingredients we need to thrive spiritually:

Eat God’s Word. It’s a spiritual feast!

God’s Word provides the nourishment
That Christians need if we’re to grow;
But if we do not feast on it,
A vibrant faith we’ll never know. —Sper

The Bible contains all the nutrients for a healthy soul.

Well done. Thank you for such a beautiful prayer on the final Sunday of this year.

May all be blessed with truth, faith, and love in the upcoming year.

May God’s Warriors overcome all attacks wherever they may be. This is His war. Put on His armor and be ready for the onslaught.

Prayers for the President, our Military, and our nation.
Dear LORD, please provide your hand of protection and mercy. Give our leaders wisdom, and instill in them a heart to govern in accordance with Your Will. Make us a people that will walk humbly before you and turn us into a people that will throw down their idols. Revive us again that your people may rejoice in thee.
