Considering that its published in the UK, the Telegraph is a great American newspaper. Today, hosting Nile Gardiner on the vision and action of the much-reviled George Bush, champion of western values:
Much of the condemnation of his policies though is driven by a venomous hatred of Bushs personality and leadership style, rather than an objective assessment of his achievements. Ten or twenty years from now, historians will view Bushs actions on the world stage in a more favourable light. Americas 43rd president did after all directly liberate more people (over 60 million) from tyranny than any leader since Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Through his bailouts (not to mention his prescription drugs boondogle) George Bush is responsible for the greatest leap toward socialism since the New Deal. Liberator? Not by any objective standard for American rights and liberties! Good riddance to that socialist.

Why are the numb so prevalent in journalism? Conservatives revile Carter even more now than ever before. The Left hates Reagan. The Left is still chasing NIxon. Clinton has the same supporters and detractors. What is this nonsense that history changes the public opinion of presidents?
