You're behind the wheel of a 1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger in a Vintage Grand Prix race. You're chasing a Ferrari, hitting speeds up to 160mph. This is NOT a video game! Ten minutes of outstanding arm chair racing. My first vanity, I apologize, but this video was Sofa King cool, I just had to post it! So who do you think wins?

There are also some other great vids to watch, if you're a vintage 426 Hemi Challeger fan; like 1,300 horsepower through the quarter mile.

It’ even more fun if you turn the volume on your speakers way up!

This has got to be a joke. American cars of that day topped out at 130mph going downhill.

you either weren't around then or you grew up in some pretty sheltered 'burbs.

Google "muscle car."

Fortheluvofpete, Hertz rented Shelby Mustangs with 300 hp or something like that.

Check the speedometer in the lower right hand corner of the frame.

I had a 1969 Dodge R/T Convertible with just the 440 magnum
engine and it was clocked at 142.3 MPH.
A 413 Hemi would have added at least 20 to 30 horse power.

Suhweet!

I’ve had my GTO up to 150. That gets the heart pumping a bit. Nothing like the feeling, though.

You guys enjoy. I’ve got to go work on my son’s first car now. He picked up a ‘97 Mustang GT.

“Check the speedometer in the lower right hand corner of the frame.”

I did. Looked like when he got around the red car, he hit about 150 to 160 mph?

The low RPMs (under 6,000) remind me of the growl of the current LeMans Audi R10, which is a low RPM turbo-diesel.

That is contrasted with the scream of a current F1 car, reaching 18,000+ RPMs.

I saw him hit 162 (I think), about 75% through the video. Can't help but think of Rev on the Red Line by Foreigner:
Now I need to bend those needles, got to feel that heat, hear my motor screaming while I'm tearing up the streets
Reminds me of my 67 Chevelle with a pumped 350...

It depends on what "work" was done to them... My 1971 Firebird Formula 400 did about 120 in factory trim... After a little bit of work, I was clocked at 154mph on a long straight by a calibrated radar gun.

Watch the rear-view screen in the lower left at about minute 5:45 - the Ferrari just fades in the distance.

It was a whole different ballgame with a 426 hemi under the hood. However, I'm a little surprised by how well it handled; it definitely had to have been equipped with a competition suspension.

The 340 wasn't shabby, especially with the wedge heads. It also made for nicer handling, especially with a stock suspension. But there's no substitute for a big-block Mopar... }8^D
