Staten Island woman gives birth to quintuplets

It was a Christmas miracle --- times five this morning at Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze.

Jamie and Kevin Ferrante of the Grant City section of Staten Island became first-time parents at 1:30 a.m.when Jamie gave birth to quintuplets in a matter of six minutes flat, according to Jamie's father, Tony Scherillo.

"They had to all be taken care of. They had teams of doctors and nurses with each baby," the 67-year-old grandfather said. "They must've had about 40 people in the operating room. It was amazing, and they were incredible. Absolutely incredible."

The children -- in order of birth -- are: Allesia Louise, two pounds; Amanda Frances, one pound, eight ounces; Emily Ann, two pounds, one ounce; Matthew Sabatino, two pounds, four and a half ounces; and Ella Lilliana, one pound and 15 and a half ounces.

"They're so tiny," a laughing Scherillo said, noting that his daughter was feeling fine almost 12 hours later, and that she was still recuperating.

Scherillo said his daughter did not take fertility drugs and that the babies were delivered by C-section.

LOL - I bet they will spoil him rotten.

I just can’t imagine raising five at one time. Hope they have lots of willing relatives.

If they’re Christian (or Catholic) they will have dozens of church members helping them out for 12-24 months. Friends of ours had only triplets and they had 24-hour volunteers, on a carefully prepared schedule, making them meals, doing laundry, buying diapers, and rocking and feeding the kids. Churches that get behind a family in need are truly incredible.

Sometimes I’m surprised that certain Freepers just don’t know much about the love and fellowship that comes from a community like a church.

God Bless them all and God D@#*@ Hussein and his abortionists for their hatred of infant life. The thought of what he and his ilk would do to such helpless and innocent humans is disgusting.

Can you imagine the wait for the bathroom in that household? Especially when they hit their teens. What a nightmare.

Dear Lord! I can’t think of much that would be worse than 5 newborns.

I always thought newborns were blessings. Granted it is a tough job, not for the weak of heart, to care for them throughout the time given parents.

Newborns are a blessing, I adopted 3 of them but not all at one time. The first 2 were 21/2 years apart and the next one was 9 years after the first one. 5 newborns all at one time would take how many nannies? I can’t even imagine it.

I understand that. I am sorry for putting more into your “worse than” than you intended by far. It was my bad, OK?
