I find this very sad. The only person in Obama’s life to give him stability and direction died before his election. He seems very much a man alone. We are living in some very uncertain and dangerous times we should all pray Mr. Obama proves us wrong and is a successful president. So far most of his cabinet picks haven't been too scary, lets hope he's a pragmatist and not a wild eyed liberal. Merry Christmas everyone. Obama is inheriting a mess. Politics aside, we should hope he is successful in addressing the major issues -- economic and security related. Because, if he fails, we all will suffer.

I wouldn't claim his cabinet selections are, as most of the MSM have, praise-worthy, brilliant, spectacular, yada yada yada. But, as you posted, they are not real scary. It could have been worse. [Of course, things could change in his 2nd term, a la Bush 2 election 2.]

i think he chose sides and direction many years ago, thus the obvious divide between Obama and his grandmother. And until he started running for the pres., I suspect he only had contact with her via phone maybe at Christmas, if at all.

I’m with you Mimaw—I don’t see the big scary coming. I think he’s a pragmatist who will govern from the center. I could be wrong, of course. But for the country’s sake, I wish him well on keeping his promises—lower taxes for the middle class, a practical end to the Iraq war, and more jobs.
