Would the troops and officers fire on American citizens in an attempt to confiscate our legally owned weapons?
Excellent question. Given that most of the military is conservative, following orders by a liberal president and liberal congress that involve citizens hopefully wouldn't be likely. I give our troops more credit than that.
Revolutions usually go to the side that has the military. ie., 1917 in Russia. I think they'll be on our side.

Scary. And not what I expected.
Well, from the looks of it, the populace is currently arming themselves. Good thing.

I believe you are right on the Jeffersonian thing.

Freier lists a number of possible things we should worry about...the fact that China and Russia could align against us politically and economically. This dumbass must have a degree in Master of the Obvious.
Comforting to know our Army War College is top of things.

In a time of a declared “National Emergency”, isn’t the President empowered to declare martial law which suspends the constitution and therefore would make any order to confiscate privately owned weapons legitimate? We are so screwed!

That will always be the case. Remember Randy Weaver and Waco.

I would imagine most called on forces would be busy in the more densely populated areas, “quelling riots” and such. Maybe grabbing firearms and such during the activity. I do not imagine them going on armed or unarmed patrols in the hinterlands for purposes of gathering weapons. That would likely be a foolish move.

And what if the little green men ‘eviscerate Congress’? ;>

And what if the little green men eviscerate Congress? We honor them with a ticker tape parade and hand them the keys to the city. Maybe even name our kids, roads, buildings and bridges after them to thank them for their service.

Sounds like we will have to go to war against our own military.
No, it doesn't sound like that. Try again.

Does to me and I won’t hesitate a second to take them on.

It seems that we need to truly value the quality of the Congress, and of the officer corps, more than ever.

My post, #88 I think, was actually a line from ‘Mars Attacks.’ Jack Nicholson said it and went on to say that “we still have two branches of government, and two out of three ain’t bad.”
I love that silly movie, that and ‘Galaxy Quest.’ Geek chic, but cheesy.
