The inquiry into whether President-elect Barack Obama's staff had any inappropriate contacts with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was bound to meet its pre-conceived conclusion.
President-Elect Barack Obama's inquiry into "inappropriate contacts" between his staff and Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich over his vacated U.S. Senate seat has the appearance of a closed loop -- the conclusion came before the inquiry.
The conclusion was: there were no inappropriate contacts.
The inquiry found: Imagine, no inappropriate contacts.
The inquiry began on Dec. 11 and ended Dec. 15. That's right, it took all of four days.
The Obama transition staff never explained what "inappropriate contacts" meant until releasing its report Tuesday, despite numerous press questions.
"Inappropriate" in Obama transition-speak can be defined two ways: "unethical" or "discussing an explicit quid pro quo"
When the Obama report says nothing inappropriate occurred, that's what it means.
It's also worth understanding how "lawyered-up" this process was.
Greg Craig, the incoming White House Counsel, conducted his inquiry by taking questions to each transition staff member's lawyer. The lawyers then went to the staff members and collected the answers. The lawyers then gave the answers to Craig.
In some cases -- team Obama won't say how many -- Craig would go back to either the staff member's attorney or the staff member directly for clarification. But it appears Craig's direct questioning of staff was very limited.

Change doesn't mean an end to Rat corruption.
I put myself on trial and found myself not guilty.
Case closed.
Close loop, my foot! Obama’s investigation was for purposes of damage control. They conducted it to find out their exposure to risk.

George Bush’s reaction to a possible scandal:
“You’re on your own, boys.”
There were two newpaper articles from Nov 5, 2008 about the O meeting with the good Gov.
Both were on the papers website, both were posted here on FR and then the sites were scrubed.
The screen shots are still here on FR.
Anyone who has them please post to this thread.
Chicago politics has it’s own definition of inappropriate.
You missed two steps. The answers were then “rationalized” for agreement. Then the “correct” responses were distributed to the staff members who had not yet been questioned by the U.S. attorney.
Can I ask a question above my paygrade? But how did “private citizen” Barack Obama or his staff, get a hold of the tapes in order to execute their investigation? I did not know that a Special Prosecutor could turn evidence over to a third party which may be a coconspirator.
“Change” merely means that new ways to cover up corruption will now be employed. To which I refer to the old Nike commercial relating to Bo Jackson, the “Bo Knows” campaign.
Now the nascent barack obama regime (”BO”) may be said to have had prior knowledge, therefore “BO Knows”.
The “investigation” was really just an excuse for the perps to compare notes and get their stories consistent.
I did not have inappropriate contact with that Governor.
It is definitely a “closed loop”, which is designed to ward off any independent review. The “investigators” and “reviewers” are the very actors themselves, then they give the matter a bill of good health, and present the findings as if they are conclusive and void of conflict of interest.
The loop needs to be unclosed (meaning, have independent reviewers), and the Obama camp should welcome that if they have nothing to hide. (Ha!)
The question is: will the issue die off now or will Obama’s self-review end up backfiring and raising further suspicions that warrant additional, and independent, exploration? Let’s hope it’s the latter.
It’s like the mob saying it’s conducted it’s own internal investigation and found that none of it’s members have done any wrongdoing.
That!
Directly on this subject, but in the vein of how this is being reported in the media, and concerning the media itself, I, an avid Wall Street Journal reader, have noticed the slide it has been making since being acquired by Murdoch’s NewsCorp - the slide into just another Liberal American outlet.
In a Wall Street Journal report on this subject this morning (printed version), the report referred - in a box of highlighted items - to the essential conclusions of the Obama team, as conclusions of the “White House”.
I will send this to Drudge and Newsbusters.
GREAT article. SImple explanation of what is wrong with this report.
That’s what it sounded like to me too. Isn’t it the most astounding thing you’ve ever heard?
It’s like if I was accused of murder, my lawyer said I didn’t do it, so that’s that. “Case closed” Unbelievable.
