RNC Chair Candidates Respond to Morton Blackwell's Questionnaire

I have obtained a copy of the long-awaited and highly-anticipated responses to RNC Committeeman Morton C. Blackwell's questionnaire. All six declared RNC Chair candidates responded. The answers are below:

Questionnaire for Candidates for

Chairman of the Republican National Committee

Prepared and distributed to candidates for RNC chairman November 25, 2008, by Morton C. Blackwell, Virginia Republican National Committeeman, 3128 N. 17th St., Arlington, VA 22201, res. xxx-xxx-xxxx, off. xxx-xxx-xxxx

The 37 questions are in bold. The answers are just as provided by Saul Anuzis of Michigan, Ken Blackwell of Ohio, Katon Dawson of South Carolina, Mike Duncan of Kentucky, John "Chip" Saltsman of Tennessee, and Michael Steele of Maryland. I deeply appreciate the cooperation of all these candidates. -- MCB

This is a lengthy Q&A for all RNC candidates, put together by longtime conservative leader and RNC member, Morton Blackwell.

I really like Ken Blackwell (no relation to Morton). I was critical of him a while back, b/c I felt like he ran a poor Ohio campaign 2 years ago, and b/c he was (according to many) not very humble before, during or after the campaign. But....clearly....this man is a solid, articulate and telegenic conservative. I think he would be a great RNC head. Time to re-start Reaganism!

Lest we not forget how cheap “talk” is from pols. Have we not learned this the very hard way in America? And half of America’s electorate has still not learned that fact.

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldn’t make any sense at all.""

By the way, in the question where Ken is asked about groups outside the RNC that he could work with, he mentions this:

“I serve on the boards of directors for the National Rifle Association, the National Taxpayers Union and the Club for Growth.”

THAT is the kind of resume which we need. As far as I am concerned, these three very effective organizations, ARE the Republican Party today (especially NRA and Club for Growth). And Blackwell is part of the leadership of each of them.

The primary requirements for this position must be guts, gonads, and a spine of steel. The head of the RNC must tell the American people the truth and expose our internal enemies in the US Congress. They “must” expose the tactics of lying, distorting, power-hungry Liberals everywhere including the Messiah-elect. We’ve just endured eight years with no one in the GOP with the guts to speak out publicly and to challenge all the lies perpetrated by the MSM. We need a conservative to head the party or we’re doomed.

About a month ago, there was talk of Newt Gingrich being interested in the RNC chairmanship. Did he drop out of contention, and if so, why?

Add a mouth that won’t take any garbage from a “feel good” liberal and you have the perfect candidate.

Of course, that definition fits two people only, - Ann Coulter and Sarah Palin.

Michael Steele is the head of Newt’s old organization, GOPAC. Steele is of course a candidate. I don’t know if Newt endorsed him, but my understanding is that he dropped out and was leaning towards Steele.

By the way, I have heard here and there that Steele is pro-choice. He’s not. He’s pro life. In fact, I think all of the candidates (if you look at the questionnaire) are solidly pro life, pro marriage. There is not a social liberal in the group. And that’s good.

Steele would be good; but for now, I think Blackwell is our man.

Why Blackwell over Steele? I prefer Steele, because of how he presents himself to all people in general as a decent speaker. But, I also wouldn’t mind it if Blackwell won. Also, no way on Duncan continuing as RNC Chair!

Good points, and I can hardly be dogmatic. But I do like that he is running with the Texas GOP chair as a ticket (woman, strong conservative). And I like his NRA and Club for Growth connection.

But I totally agree, it is a tough call. Steele is fantastic and we could hardly lose with him in the chair!!!

To be honest, as long as the Chair has steel cojones and willingly and eagerly lays a mighty smackdown on the libs at least once a week, if not daily, I don’t care who gets it.

The Republicans have GOT to start fighting back and giving MORE than they get. If they don’t, they’re finished.
