Here's a purse made out of recycled video tape:

To be perfectly honest, there is so little current music that interests me enough to purchase it that I have no idea what is being made!

The conversation was actually amusing. The Pastor said she had gotten rid of all her cassette, but still had a stack of vinyl in a box somewhere an we she found the box it was mine.

Now that the 10yo has discovered the vinyl, and knows how to use the turntable I think I’ll utilize her in my goal of transferring all the vinyl to cassette and/or CD. We have enough vinyl to keep her occupied until she’s probably 16 or so!

From just about every technical standpoint, Beta is superior. It was just its inability to cram hours of bad video on a tape that hurt it.

Betacam SP is a rugged, reliable format that some places still use in spite of digital formats. There is digital Beta too and I liked it.

IMHO it is all going to be digital files (eg MPEG) within the next ten years. As long as you have the codex you will be good to go.

You might recognize some of these bands.

And there are some official releases of material that never came out before.

You are right - I guess I just don’t expect some of the rougher shows these days to use great old music in them.

Just another thing that the next generation will never enjoy...A rewinding charge!

What are you talking about! My local Blockbuster charged me a rewinding fee for a DVD I returned just a few days ago!

:-)

In my days as a bartender, when closing the joint at 2AM, I would order one of the junior waitresses to crawl under the baby grand accoustic piano, where for a brief time the Legendary Joey Welz played, and unplug it.

Say what you want about VHS, but I never rented a brand new VHS tape and had it skip to the point where I had to drive back to the video store and exchange it. And my VHS players last about ten years each. I’ve had three DVD players in four years.

Believe it or not, one of our local video stores actually put “Please remember to rewind” stickers on the inside of DVD rental packages.

I don’t have too many but on occasion I’ve bought a used VHS (like an old cartoon series, the Houndcats) via Ebay or
something and converted it to DVD by hooking up my VHS
recorder to my DVD recorder.

A friend of mine sometimes records long radio shows on VHS
tapes though he can admittedly do the same on his DVD rec.

Also I dubbed some highlights from cartoon fan conventions I’ve been to, highlight tapes from 1998-2002 that were not and probably never will be released on DVD (I converted and uploaded clips to youtube). So having the VHS player can
come in handy.

You can crease an analog VHS tape and keep on going as long as it isn't too severe and the disruption doesn't bother you.

Personics. I had them make me a Howard Jones greatest hits. It was cool, but I was embarrassed when they called my name over the loudspeaker and said “Your HOWARD JONES tape is ready!”

This guy is off if he thinks Blu-Ray is going to make DVD obsolete. The picture is much better, and I wouldn’t mind it becoming dominate, but few are going to be willing to start building their libraries again. I think they’ll be lucky if BR isn’t the new laserdisc.

I have a DVD recorder that doesn’t read about half the discs I insert. I got a movie for Christmas and the player didn’t read that. It is frustrating.
