The Phoenix Police Department received a donation from Valley native and Saturday Night Live alum David Spade Monday morning.
Spade, who stars on the CBS sitcom "Rules of Engagement," stopped at a northeast Phoenix precinct to give Police Chief Jack Harris a check.
Mayor Phil Gordon and other local officials also were there.
A police spokesman says Spade called police last week asking to donate to the rifle program.
Police and the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association have been working toward getting at least 300 rifles for patrol officers.
Spade, 44, grew up in Scottsdale and still has family in Arizona.
Note to self....don’t ticket David Spade when I have him pulled over.
Oh, it was rifle for the COPS, that’s different.
If it were for the benefit of civilian shooters his career would be over.
I figured he was one of the good guys. Just a feeling I had after watching his Hollyweird gossip show where he skewered a lot of sacred leftist cows.
“David Spade donates $100K to Phoenix PD for rifles”
Crossing David off the “Typical Hollywierd Douche” list.
Good show, David.
Hope you have a tight contract. When the libs running Hollywood find out about this, you won’t even be able to get work replacing Billy Mays.
Good -- Very nice gesture Mr. Spade and a worthy cause, indeed. Congratulations.
the bad -- Did you really need the photo op and publicity? (if done soley to promote the cause, then I can respect that)
Great story. Thanks for the posting. Here’s a guy we can support! Sure wish more of his “colleagues” would follow suit.
I would have put Spade in the douchbag category myself till he got a playmate prego, and plus donating for guns, cant go wrong with guns.
Good for David and the Phoenix PD. Patriot
More power to him. I had heard that he had a conservative streak.
Relax.
it is good he had the photo op to show others we need to support the anti crime warriors and its ok to be pro gun.
A lot of these guys forget where they came from and have nothing to do with the old hometown. I have to give it to him.
Given that this photo-op came from a radio station, he’s seems sincere about it.
“...you wont even be able to get work replacing Billy Mays”
Impossible...his hair is not black or greasy enough.
Good for David. Cops are so easily out gunned these days. Glad he wants our guys to have a fighting chance.
AR’s all around!
Why? he didn’t do anything for youth marksmanship or NRA educational programs.
The guy's making a stand for law and order, I can respect that. He just plays a smarmy jackass on TV, clearly, he's an upstanding citizen!
