Lynn Sweet wants the Obama team to come clean over its contacts with Blago. David Shuster has a different concern. He's hoping the media won't get "adversarial" once the Obama folks get around to releasing their report about who said what to whom.
Shuster made his pre-emptive plea for good media manners on this evening's 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the MSNBC show Shuster has recently begun hosting now that David Gregory has moved on to Meet The Press.
Sweet, of the Chicago Sun-Times, began with a reasonable reporter's take on the pending release by Team Obama of its accounting of contacts between the President-elect's representatives and Blago and his minions: take your time but be complete. In contrast, Shuster's focus was his demand for media decorum and desire to exculpate Rahm Emanuel before even learning the facts.

It’s only a matter of time. Media egos know that they could make a quick name for themselves by assassinating a Messiah, even if it is just with a pen.
He’s their Frankenstein. It will be interesting to see what they do with him. Not fun for the most part, but interesting.
They haven’t asked him any hard questions about anything else, why would the get tough on him now?!
Obamanation hasn’t earned a free pass just because he’s black, RAT and prez-elect.
And I hope that they do.
But they won’t.
The media will not get adversarial with him until long after he takes the oath of office & probably no where on the same lines as they would if he were a Republican.
2008 shall be called "The Revenge of the Liberal Media".
Obama already has them so busy spinning and covering up that I doubt they'll have much time for gloating. I think even before the inauguration we're seeing the cracks in the facade -- the lib journos didn't think they'd already be forced into so much EFFORT to prop up the Big O. It's just going to be more and more drudgery for them -- and truth to tell, having been one for decades, journos hate to do real work.
Do you really believe that the liberal media will ever turn on Obama? As I said before they support him more than he supports himself.
Why is it that my “Gaydar” alarm goes off every time I see David Shuster?
They have many other methods than “turning on him.” The most virulent is ignoring him. I’m sure you’ve seen lots of occasions, with lots of Presidents, where it seems like the President hardly makes the news for weeks at a time.
That alone would really tick off Obama.
And they know it, too.
I think it has something to do with his nasal voice.
