BINDURA, Zimbabwe (AFP) President Robert Mugabe declared Friday that "Zimbabwe is mine" and vowed never to surrender to calls to step down, as his political rival threatened to quit stalled unity government talks.
Addressing his ZANU-PF party's annual conference amid a ruinous political crisis and a deadly cholera epidemic, Mugabe returned to the kind of defiance he has often shown in the face of mounting criticism.
"I will never, never, never never surrender. Zimbabwe is mine, I am a Zimbabwean. Zimbabwe for Zimbabweans. Zimbabwe never for the British, Britain for the British," Mugabe told his party's annual conference.
The veteran leader in the former British colony said he would remain until "his people decide to change him."
While the comments struck a familiar tone for the 84-year-old leader -- he said earlier this year that only God could remove him from office -- he now faces increasingly grim circumstances in his crippled country.
The UN says more than 1,100 people have died in the cholera epidemic, adding to woes such as food shortages and poverty as Zimbabwe struggles with a collapsed economy and eye-popping inflation rates.
Mugabe denounced Western governments who have been stepping up their criticism of his regime since the outbreak of cholera.
"What a pack of lies," he said, adding that Zimbabwe was facing a war with Britain, supported by the United States and Europe.
"I won't be intimidated. Even if I am threatened with beheading, I believe this and nothing will ever move me from it: Zimbabwe belongs to us, not the British."

And only God could sink the Titanic. Hey, Lord, Let’s go two for two!..............
Funny! Both your comment AND your tag line!! :-)
Angola is a case study and I know it well.
It is a very rich country with substantial reserves of oil, diamonds, copper and bauxite. I think it is potentially the richest country in Africa. It is also very beautiful. When the Portuguese ruled it was a stable, peaceful place to live and visit.
Then came the revolution. It was 1975. The Portuguese were kicked out overnight and many left with just the clothes on their backs, such was the rush to get out. People lost everything, and I mean everything. Then followed 25 years of brutal civil war which has turned the country into a disease-ridden, primitive rock pile. It is only now just beginning to straighten itself out.
Is there something genetic about the blacks in Africa which causes them to want to destroy and pull down that which is beautiful just because the white man built it? Are they racists? Fools? Just naturally warlike? Whatever it is, they have it in spades.
Notice the hitler style mustache.
“I won’t be intimidated. Even if I am threatened with beheading,”
I guess my persistant meme of celebrating the hoisting of Mugabe’s head on a pike is bothering him!
;^)
Obama has basically said the same thing. He is here to “rule” over us.
Well, when he gets bored ruining Zimbabwe, Bush can nominate him to run the fed.
dateline January 2013.President Barrack Obama declared Friday that "The United States is mine" and vowed never to surrender to calls to step down, as his political rival threatened to quit stalled unity government talks.
Addressing his Democrtic party's annual conference amid a ruinous political crisis and a deadly cholera epidemic, Obama returned to the kind of defiance he has often shown in the face of mounting criticism.
"I will never, never, never never surrender. The United States is mine, I am a proud marxist. The US for marxists, The US never for the the haters. We cannot abide the haters. We must totally eradicate the extremist haters and reactionary wingnuts," Obama told his party's annual conference.

Wow - I missed that at first glance. Nice to see he's fully embracing his inner Nazi.
They already did decide. Then Mugabe demanded a runoff, had his thugs attack the opposition candidates and run them out of the country. Right now the only question is will there be enough left of Zimbabwe to save when Mugabe dies.
I hope we have an easier time removing Obamugabe in 2012. Hopefully his thugs won't prechoose McCain to be the Republican candidate again that year.
Never you fear, the Inscrutable oriental is “re-colonizing Africa” for everything its worth.Which is only its ivory, folk medicine, juju, gold, oil and diamonds. They will leave the scraps behind and a new ruling race from the loins of love starved chinamen, the Overlord Africanese/Chinerificans.Kind of a new twist on the high caste Haitians.
Hey Mugabe! Remember Mussolini?
Yep...
What's left of it. He practically salted the earth. So he now has a scorched, barren wasteland with lots of rebel helpers who'll need fed and few average citizens left to do the work (dead or fled). Now what? It will become his justification for requesting more UN aid or attacking his neighbors. But hey, now he's king of his own hell of his own making (said with sarcasm). Unfortunately so for all the innocent people who survived and haven't left (or can't leave). Shame on the UN and the other leaders who enabled his raping and pillaging of Zimbabwe.
Ousting Mugabe would be a Christmas blessing for those still suffering from his brand of government.
And you're welcome to what you've made of it.
“I won’t be intimidated. Even if I am threatened with beheading....”
Thats a good idea. Lets behead him.
Talk like this tells me that his end is near. Good riddance to bad rubbish. A few hundred Royal Marines could take out this dude in a weekend and be welcomed with cheers from the good people of Rhodesia—Black and White.
