If it's December, it's time for the left to throw another shameless pity party for convicted American jihadist John Walker Lindh (aka Suleyman al-Faris, aka Abdul Hamid). Every Christmas season for the past four years, the Taliban accomplice and his parents have asked President Bush to pardon him. This country should save its tears and mercy for the defenders of freedom.
The farther we move from the September 11 attacks, the cloudier our collective memory of Lindh's case becomes. Sympathetic journalists have rewritten the history, embracing him as a naive young hippie-dippie from Marin County, Calif., who was just caught in the "wrong place at the wrong time."
Others, like Esquire magazine writer Tom Junod, have proclaimed him "innocent" and lamented his life behind bars in a federal medium-security facility. Junod criticized the government for forbidding Lindh to speak Arabic -- human rights atrocity! Meanwhile, he enjoys the privilege of cooking meals for himself and fellow inmates, working in the library, and praying to Mecca. Junod insisted that Lindh deserves more "credit for his sense of purpose or his vast reserves of will" and more "credit for what it took to get to Afghanistan, much less what it took for him to get back to America."
In Afghanistan, I remind you, Jihad Johnny took up arms with the terrorists. His purpose was to kill Americans, and his "reserves of will" accomplished the goal. He told the feds he trained with al-Qaida before the September 11 attacks and fought alongside them after Osama bin Laden's henchmen murdered 3,000 of Lindh's fellow citizens on American soil. He wrote a letter to his mother expressing support for the U.S.S. Cole bombing that took 17 sailors' lives, and despite an emphatic denial by Lindh's father that Jihad Johnny took up arms against his country, he recounted how his rifle malfunctioned on the front lines in Takar.
Finally, on Nov. 25, 2001, upon being captured and taken to the Qala-i Jangi fortress outside Mazar-e Sharif for interrogation, Suleyman al-Faris/Abdul Hamid/John Walker Lindh sat silent -- and deliberately and defiantly chose not to tell American CIA officer and former Marine Corps artillery specialist Mike Spann about a planned Taliban prison revolt. Spann was killed in the riot.
Asked by journalist Robert Pelton at the prison if this was "the right cause or the right place," Lindh replied unequivocally: "It is exactly what I thought it would be."
Who deserves the credit for "sense of purpose" and "reserve of will"? The saboteur of American freedom or the guardian?
Mike Spann's family visited the fortress after his murder. They talked to Afghan doctors who will never forget his bravery. "They said they thought Mike might run and retreat, but he held his position and fought using his AK rifle until out of ammo, and then drew and began firing his pistol," Spann's father said. "While watching Mike fight they were able to jump up and run to safety.
"They said the only reason that they and several others were able to live was because Mike stood his position and fought off the prisoners while enabling them the time to run to safety. The doctors stated that as they fled toward a safe haven they saw Mike run out of ammo and then witnessed him fighting hand to hand until he was overcome by the numerous al-Qaida and Taliban prisoners."
American hero Mike Spann will not get to cook dinner for his widow, Shannon, and their three young children. Mike Spann cannot curl up with a good book or go to church with his family. Pray for Mike Spann, show his family the compassion and gratitude they deserve -- and may American traitor John Walker Lindh rot in hell.
Hell is too nice a place for him and his brethren.
So say we all.
Screw him and his enabling parents. And every libtard who supports him. *spit*
I remember reading, as a child, about a man - an American - who denounced the US. I don’t remember the exact circumstances, but he somehow lost his citizenship, and, not having a country to go to, he was put on a ship. He was not allowed to set foot on American soil. Whenever the ship was in an American Port, he was not allowed to see American land. He was confined to his quarters, and had to stay on the side of the ship facing away from the shore.
Before he died, he regretted his words, and proclaimed his love for his country - but it was too late.
Probably just a child’s story, but I always remembered it. They don’t teach patriotism anymore.
Lindh will appreciate, too late, the depth of his betrayal.
Why is it that libs so often support murderers like this guy? Are they aware that they hate America or hate life?
John Walker Lindh can rot in hell for eternity. His being in jail warms my heart this holiday season. Maybe his parents should join him for raising such a traitorous b*st*rd.

“The Man Without a Country” by Edward Everett Hale. It’s a classic short story. Read about it here:

Hope that helps!

> Hell is too nice a place for him and his brethren.
Maybe so. I think death by hanging would be an excellent and entertaining start for Lindh and his brethren. We’ll see what happens to his soul afterward: might be Hell, or it might be someplace else where the souls of Traitors go.
He is lucky to even be alive. More mercy than he deserves.
Is it true that GWB referred to Lindh as “that poor boy”? I sure hope the Prez doesn’t decide to surprise us with his compassion on this one.

This is how a Warrior dies!
I think the name of the movie was “A Man Without a Country”
I also remember it.
Because their lives are patterned on free-floating, feelgood morals (?), which they think are beyond such silly things as country and simply doing the right thing. It's an infinitely self-applauding position to live in a country but believe you are above such petty matters, and are really about HUMANITY. The liberal mentality is of an imaginary objectivity, where the liberal takes nothing personally, and can see the good in each person, especially if that good moves one to strike at the USA, which has sins in its past, so whatever it gets it deserves.
A liberal believes "everyone has his reasons," so we should stand back and allow everyone his or her say...as long, of course, that say ultimately supports the liberal's position. (Ask yourself how many supporters this guy would have if he kept quiet about the upcoming bombing of an abortion clinic. But keeping quiet about the attack from Al Qaeda that killed his interrogator? That's ok.)
Liberals are protected by the military, so they are free to say ANYTHING. The more outrageous, the more they are exercising their freedom of speech...even if what they say denigrates those people and institutions which ALLOW that freedom to exist.
They are like spoiled brats who rain invective down on their parents in public because they know their parents aren't going to throw them into the street--"I'm just a kid, you can't throw me out!" If those parents had enough and gave the brat the boot, such a kid wouldn't last five minutes in the real world. But he knows that will never happen, so he says and does what he likes.
Speaking up for this scum makes them feel like they are above petty partisanship, and at the same time, they are comforted by the knowledge that they'll never have to face his wrath due to the very people they are criticizing for imprisoning him.
Part of the teaching curriculum before the communists took over and changed the books to anti-American drivel.
I know that story well. Its one of my favorites .
Be there a man with soul so dead.
Who never to himself has said.
This is my own, My native land.
I doubt this convert to Islam ever read that story and if he did he is too stupid to understand it.
The French have a term for it, "éparter le bourgeois".
That roughly translates to "(to) shock the middle class". What it means is for the Anointed to deliberately set out to do, say, write, create, champion, whatever something that will flip-the-bird at the despised middle class. IOW, deep down inside they fawn over this Johnny Jihad character for the simple reason:-- it outrages us, the bourgeois.
“
No Mercy for Jihad Johnny
“
If I were an aide of Dubya (that’s almost like saying “If I Were King”,
LOL!)...
I’d suggest sending Jihad Johnny a copy of the old “Classic Comics”
version of “A Man Without A Country”.
And tell Jihad Johnny that he should be happy that he’s left in
the relatively safe environment of a US prison.
Because he’d surely be at risk of life/limb and torture if he was
simply granted the right to live forever aboard a series of US Navy
vessels as an outcast.
I do feel a bit sorry for Jihad Johnny. Given his Marin County
(California) youth, I suspect “A Man Without A Country” was an
(effectively) banned piece of “jingoistic propaganda”.
Because it was written to support the continued unity of the USA.
