Man can influence local climate change — black pavement in cities is an example that can raise overnight temperatures as cooling does not occur as fast due to surfaces having to release more absorbed heat. In desert areas, increased humidity due to watering lawns in recently developed areas can also keep temperatures from dropping overnight as heat is stored in the water vapor instead of being radiated to space.
There are very good reasons to prevent pollution, but preventing construction of fossil fuel plants because of carbon dioxide emissions and eliminating ruminants (i.e. cattle as PETA would have us do) to reduce methane flatulence will do nothing to help stop “global climate change” but will do a lot to lower our standard of living. Of course that is what the radical environut jobs want anyway.
Agree... I suspect that much of what is being measured is influenced by some of our large cities, especially since many of the sensors put into place in might have once been in a fairly desolate area, which is now built up. When you get out into the rest of the world... things haven't changed too much. Of course, they probably weight the temp reading from cities more heavily because more people live there.
