A man walking his dog in Terrell on Wednesday shot and critically wounded an armed 17-year-old robber, police said.
The incident happened at about 10:20 p.m. in Ben Gill Park in the 100 block of Lions Club Lane where, police said, a group of teen robbers surrounded the man.
According to investigators, when a boy in the group pulled out a gun, the man, a licensed concealed handgun owner, fired shots.
The teen was apparently struck in the head and was listed in critical condition at Parkland Hospital. His weapon was recovered at the scene and later determined to be stolen during a separate offense in Terrell, according to police.
Three other teen suspects fled the scene in a vehicle that was recovered in the 300 block of S. Park Street, police said.
Police identified the teen gunman and one of the other suspects, and were working to ID the two remaining boys.
The robbery victim was not injured.
I have just recently began carrying again...times-they are a-changin’
Some of the uh, refugees from Katrina came to Texas and tried to pull some of the shenanigans they were used to back in Louisiana and a lot of them learned the hard way that Texans dont like getting car-jacked or mugged.
Dont Mess with Texas
Dont Mess with Texas
A second shot to the head would have done the trick. Always shoot twice.
Beautiful
I really admire Texas.
My wife and I completed our CHL class last weekend. The instructor said a shooting will always go to a grand jury and expect to spend $20,000.00 on a Shyster, I mean lawyer. Even if you have justifiable cause and are not guilty. I would like some confirmation on his statement. Beretta Tomcat Inox, nice choice.
Parkland hospital has had limited success with head shot victims in the past. Hope his parents are organ donors.
Depends a lot on location.

You fire the weapon, you own the bullet - whereever it stops.
Where do you live? If your state has the Castle Law and it includes the “stand your ground” provision, you have no worry about being sued in court for defending yourself with deadly force. Before Missouri had that, my instructor also said the same thing when I was taking my CCW class. Now, since the Castle law and stand your ground with deadly force has passed and is the law, the defense lawyers for the perp can’t sue. I love it when a plan (law) comes together. :)
You mean, “Gunman shoots child”.
Texas still operates with common sense.
Our housing didnt go up 25% - 30% a year..
We are business friendly. Low taxes...
Texas is a beautiful place to be. A lot of folks around the rest of the country have a stereotypical view of Texas as cowboys and tumbleweed. Yes, thats here, but there is so much more to Texas than that...

We’re doing alright down here...
Great place to raise a family, too.
That is EXACTLY what my daughter got for her 22nd birthday.
It isn’t until Jan 2nd, but she had to sign for it.
She liked my Kimber - I have the all black Kimber .45.
She talked me in to going to the pistol range last week
end and letting her use her present early.
Of course I said “OK”. :)
I like the night sight (laser sight) on hers.
I like the looks of hers better, too.
They shoot the same, but gosh is her’s ‘purdy’.
It’s too nice to carry all of the time. I am going to use it for only those times when I feel I might really need it. Otherwise, it’s going to be the CZ RAMI for me. I don’t want the Kimber getting all scrathed and beaten up.
Just couldn’t wait for Jan. 20th.
Please don’t tell everybody how great it is here in Texas. If you keep it up, they will all move here and screw things up for us!
For everybody else reading this, Texas is not what you think it is so stay where you are.
With any further fortune, the same posse of Joe Horn supporters that turned out en masse to shout down the New Black Panthers’ attempted grandstanding/race-baiting/race-hustling/Jena Six-ing in Joe’s neighborhood will also rally to this guy’s side so as to complete his defense.
Don’t Mess With Texas!
