Another article on this in USA today states the perp was drunk and The FBI says Yarimo appears to be in the U.S. illegally and had been ordered deported from the U.S. The FBI says he claims to be a citizen of Israel with a pending application for U.S. citizenship.

Shalom Yarimo was arrested Tuesday night and charged with felony interference with a flight crew.

Now, Yarimo says he had become ill after choking on his food, and was unnecessarily treated as a safety problem by the flight crew.

Officials tell a different story: "Some of his activities included running up and down the aisles, opening and closing the overhead bins, shouting at the flight attendants, making a statement that he had shot people in Lebanon."

Did he come up with the "choking" excuse himself, or is this his lawyer's equivalent of the Hail Mary pass. You might get lucky and win, but if you didn't throw it you were going to lose anyway.
