i don’t get that.. even if you assume evolution to be true.. doesn’t seem like it was that brilliant an idea..
especially compared to the theory of relativity...
To: outlawjake
The efficacy of the Theory of Relativity in arguing with religious folks and portraying them as mis-guided fools is rather limited. Therefore, Einstein can only be seen as a second-rate scientist.
Evolution, on the other hand, provides loads of fun for anyone who wants to argue with religious folks and portray them as mis-guided fools. Therefore, Darwin is the greatest scientist. Ever!

Maybe Darwin's to blame... Maybe Einstein is...

Darwin was a genius, he was the greatest scientist in history... Chuck Darwin is a legitimate candidate for stupidest white man ever to walk the Earth.

That is probably quite true.

GGG, you move me to coin a new term -- Darwin Derangement Syndrome.
You can be the first poster boy. Your vehemence makes the Bush Derangement Syndrome sufferers look tame by comparison.

No, but with that statement I think you’ve demonstrated that you may be a contender.

It’s not even an original idea. Lucretius laid it all out in “De Rerum Naturam” over 2000 years ago.

The criteria is basically stupidest ideas, with the most evil consequences (communism, naziism, eugenics etc. etc. etc.)...
Stupid ideas alone wouldn't qualify anybody.

Darwin isnt helping the UAW defeat republicans, Jeeze!
Cable’s FOXMOVIE channel has been replaying Planet of The Apes five movie set. Charlton Hesten was definitely smart getting killed off at the end of the second Movie while blowing up the earth out of spite.

If Evolution is presented to college level individuals as a
theory and not as irrefutable fact and a sacred religion itself, that cannot be criticised, ever, you might have a leg to stand on.
However, at its worst, it is being taught to kindergarteners who are unable to look at it objectively. Its proponents are desperate to drum it into student's heads and as such it is just propaganda.
It is also undeniably a tool of atheists, Communists, Marxists, etc., all people who hate Judeo-Christian values, and who seek tirelessly to attack them.

So you’re saying that “communisim, naziism, eugenics etc. etc. etc.” are all consequences of the Theory of Evolution?

As a veteran of these threads for half a dozen years, I’d say the same people that deny evolution also deny physics.
At the very least they place themselves above Einstein in their understanding of the universe.

So you would rather drum into students' heads one or another form of superstition, totally unsupported by objective evidence?

Nonsense. The theory of evolution is a scientific theory explaining how genomes change over time. Your strawman collapses of its own weight.

Wasn't one also a top flight mathematician, who determined that the odds against evolution were 1720 or some such?
And don't forget the "law of thermal documents." That's a classic.

Not even close. Several other guys were working on the same ideas at the same time. Darwin just got to press first, but the one working on bugs in the south pacific actually had a better working theory. Darwin actually sighted that guys work in "The Origin of Species". It was like the Wright Brothers with the aircraft. So many people were working on it that if they hadn't flown first, someone else would have within a few years.
Now compare that to a Newton, Einstein, Kepler or Galileo. All of them took the world into a totally new direction where nobody else had even thought to go. If Darwin hadn't published the theory would have come forward anyway literally within five years, just slightly different and under a different name. Take away Einstein, Newton or Kepler and you set back science hundreds or perhaps a thousand years.
