Are you an "employee at will" (that means that you can be fired without notice or cause)? Cops are not.
Are you protected by a union contract? Cops are.

what if u are fired for being charged with a crime but are later found not quilty or plea to a BS violation?
you'd be pretty peeved and might sue your former employer, huh?
