not only is MD spending hundreds of millions on “park land”, the state is buying that land from O’Malley cronies (most lawyers or developers who set up faux trusts) who bought that land cheap just before or just after O’Malley was elected
Look at who is getting rich “to save the environment”
State comptroller Peter Franchot has been a voice in the wilderness

We all knew government corruption exists, but there seems to be massive swindling going on over the past few months. The TARP robbery and now this?
This is the kind of thing that starts rebellions.

I'm thoroughly disgusted. Again and again and again. The government could not run a lemonade stand at profit, even after bullying people to hand over money (and get no lemonade in return) and bulking the lemonade with piss.
The fixation of so-called economic conservatives on "pork spending", in the face of these enormous entitlement and structural problems, is almost farcical.

C’mon down to Texas ya’ll...as you can see by following that link and reading the article—we’re doing fine! In fact, they couldn’t even get Texas on the chart as projected to have a deficit in 2010!
We’ve got lots of room down here—in fact, if the US GUBMINT tries to come and take some of our money to bail out anybody, I will not be surprised to see the secession talk turn from the ‘radical’ idea it has always seemed to be, to the primary goal of the Texas state legislature.
(Also, Alaska was not on the list either—but it’s just too stinking cold up there for me, sorry Sarah.)

“And states who won their tobacco lawsuits (like mine) have been spending that money on everything but the healthcare they said it would be used for....”
I live in AZ. I am also an OB nurse. When the illegal aliens come in to deliver their babies, it is either paid for by the State Tobacco Tax, or Emergency AHCCCS (state indigent health program).

I wish someone would make a simple flash (.swf) that would show chicken coming home to roost. More and more chickens, forming a gigantic pile of chickens.
It just seems appropriate in so very many ways.

I wonder when the level of disenfranchisement gets to the breaking point. If the economy really tanks hard, it probably won’t be long.

If people keep losing jobs and health insurance, foreclosing and can’t get unemployment insurance after paying into the system, it could get real ugly.

Some people believe living within a budget. Go Texas.

I may be a doomsday type, but I think everything is going to collapse and the country goes into to a severe depression. Hope I'm wrong.

"Why is this a problem. The Democrates changed the rule for SS years ago and have been spending the SS surplus on buying votes and increasing dependency on government."

I think one day the government is going to wake up to a surprise that we are just fed up.
To: minman
Tax time is coming up .What if we all stop giving them money to just throw away.We need to stop paying them taxes .What would they do arrest all of us .This is only the beginning of a lot of stupid stuff. I want more freedom not less these Dems should be called what they are communist. The IRS, for example, contracts out some elements of "enforcement" to third-party collectors. There are more takers than givers across America, so to the unasked question, "how many divisions does the IRS have", the answer is 'plenty', with a standing army which can be bolstered at moment's notice. And our assets are the "fixed fortifications" in this battle - Patton knew what to think about that sort of arrangement.
