cientists from around the world are denouncing an Associated Press article hysterically claiming that global warming is "a ticking time bomb" about to explode, and that we're "running out of time" to do anything about it.
As reported by NewsBusters, Seth Borenstein, the AP's "national science writer," published a piece Sunday entitled "Obama Left With Little Time to Curb Global Warming."
Scientists from all over the world have responded to share their view of this alarmist propaganda:
How can this guy call himself a "science reporter?"
He is perhaps the worst propagandist in all the media, and that's stating something.
In his latest screed, he screams: "global warming is accelerating"
How then does he explain the fact that the mean global temperature (as measured by satellite) is the same as it was in 1980?
How can global warming be "accelerating" when the last two years have seen dramatic cooling? Is this guy totally removed from all reality?????
He completely ignores any evidence contrary to his personal beliefs, and twists everything to meet his preconceived notions.
How can anyone so ignorant be a reporter for AP? Seriously? -- David Deming, University of Oklahoma

How can anyone so ignorant be a reporter for AP? Uh, does that question really need to be asked? Ignorant, yes. And biased as well.
I'm laughing at my brother-in-law; he's a big-time believer in global warming. He just moved this year to Denver from the SF Bay Area. He works the night shift and just got a taste of global chilling in Denver. Ha-ha ha!

There was a time when AP was the gold standard in reportage.

There was a time when there was competition among multiple news services. Now there’s mostly AP. We don’t really have multiple papers — we have multiple papers who copy/paste stories from AP.

No one is asking you to pass out the medals, comrade.
The Ministry of Truth likes the AP, so golden it is!

How can anyone so ignorant be a reporter for AP?
Is that a real question? We're talking about the AP, aren't we? The surprise would be if there were any real and unbiased reporters there.
But, regarding the article and global warming, the only reason that any reporter would behave as that AP reporter is very simple: when you're losing the argument, especially a radically ignorant and biased one, then perhaps bringing up the rhetoric to shouting levels might help.
But, the only way to combat the lunacy about global warming, or any other issue which is scientifically provable, is to enact laws in government which states specifically that: government intervention in global warming or any other environmental issue should be undertaken only after it has been proven scientifically and beyond a shadow of a doubt that, human intervention either caused the problem or human intervention can relieve the problem. The facts and the studies cannot be refuted by shouting or by consensus. Scientific studies cannot make use of consensus from the media or politicians or even scientists. When scientists engage in consensus opinion, that is not science.
The global warming hysteria is not about science or the environment. It is about political agendas being ratcheted up by the media who are willing conspirators in the attempt by the government to take control of more of people's lives through more government programs.
If true science and true analysis and true facts and data become mandatory, then this whole global warming issue might finally go away.

We dont really have multiple papers we have multiple papers who copy/paste stories from AP. In San Francisco, there's the SF Chronicle. Nothing else other than neighborhood fluff. At one time we had the Call, Bulletin, Examiner, and a few other papers that competed in San Francisco with world news stories. The Chron just copies and pastes as you say. Their articles trail the Internet by several days time.

When we reach the tipping point in a couple of years after which we can no longer fix the earth can we stop hearing about this supposed issue?
I am somewhat of a “tree hugger,” or at least someone who believes in intelligent use of resources, keeping the environment free from carcinogens, etc. But, I have yet to see conclusive proof of these outrageous claims.

How can anyone so ignorant be a reporter for AP? Probably because abysmal ignorance is, if not explicitly a prerequisite for the job of 'AP reporter', certainly a career enhancing qualification...

Nah, his company moved him and family, all paid for. My nieces want to move back, never snows in SF area. But often you have to go where the money is. (If the sea rises I have a boat and paddles ready!)

Of course. The same modelers and media were predicted a new ice age from the mid 1960s through the late 1970s.
Go back a few decades before that, and you can find front page New York Times stories reporting as fact that "our neighbors on Mars" have just completed a new canal system.
I swear I am not making this up.
