| WASHINGTON, Dec. 15, 2008 Housing allowances for military members will go up an average of 6.9 percent in 2009, Defense Department officials announced today.
The increase comes to an average of about $95 per month across the board for the 950,000 servicemembers expected to draw basic allowance for housing, or BAH, in 2009, but some servicemembers will not see any increase at all, and others will see less than that the average increase, Susan A. Brumbaugh director of the Defense Departments BAH program, said in a Pentagon Channel interview. |

$1,200 a month would get a person a pretty nice apartment in this area and $1500.00 a month a reasonable house.
OUTSTANDING!
This will no doubt age me, but during my enlistment, BAQ was a flat $105/mo.
Our first apt was $72/mo. Our next unit was Navy Housing and that took the entire $105. Base pay + diving pay, I was getting $305/mo.
Not begrudging our Armed Forces at all... Give em more money! They earn it a lot more than our “honorable congress-critters”.
Heh ... Your flat BAQ was more than my Base Pay when I come in. :>)
WOW! I only made $365p/mo base pay with an additional $180 for BAQ/BAS...............
