Gamechanger? Indications that it was the Obama Team that approached Blagojevich to make a deal.

Patrick Fitzgerald seems to indicate that Obama’s team approached Blaogjevich!

I noticed this as I was reading the transcript of Fitzgerald's comments at the press conference. Below is a quote from that event that I've not heard mentioned anywhere. After Fitzgerald details the events around the Valerie Jarrett portion of the pay-for-play scheming with the Obama people, he then goes on to say this about Jesse Jackson Jr. approaching Blagojevich with another deal:

—- “What I should also talk about is that, in another event, SOMEBODY ELSE APPROACHED THE GOVERNOR [emphasis mine]. And the governor’s understanding of this approach was that in exchange for an appointment, to the Senate seat, he would receive campaign contributions. And the government’s view of what was told, to him, through intermediaries was that, quote, “We were approached pay-to-play that, you know, he raised me 500 grand. Then the other guy would raise a million if I made him senator,” close quote.” —

SOMEBODY ELSE APPROACHED THE GOVERNOR??

Unless there were yet another set of people that were trying to make deals, it sounds like the Obama people CAME TO BLAGOJEVICH with this plan as did Jesse Jackson Jr.

I agree and there might even be calls for a special prosecutor which should get his attention if nothing else does.

“What I should also talk about is that, in another event, SOMEBODY ELSE APPROACHED THE GOVERNOR”

Actually, he had just finished talking about the Obama Team/Valerie Jarrett deal—he hadn’t mentioned any other deals in his statement so the reference would have been to the Obama deal he just laid out.

““Somebody else” could have been any of the previous 4, no? How does this prove it was Obama?”

Because he had only mentioned the Obama/ValarieJarret deal by this point in the conferencde, deal by this point in the press conference. It was a direct reference to what he just said.

Besides, if you search articles in all of November, most of the names the press referenced as being on the SHORT LIST were names on the emmanueal/Obama list. Some of the articles refrence these candidates as saying they had meetings with Blagojevich and even phone calls.

The complaint references concerning Team Obama do not end with Jarrett dropping out, it ends with a new deal beginning, one that intended to bankroll somehow the Senate Seat and Rahm’s 5th Congessional District. Then three weeks of audio are absent from the complaint. If you read carefully, Blagojech wanted to use this new scheme to talk about nominating not just Jarrett still, but, “the others” as well. The others on the list? That what it sounds like to me.

Those other candidates’s names were floating around the press right up until Blagojevich was arrested.

“The person that approached Blago “pay to play” and was offering contributions was doing it on behalf of “Senate Candidate 5” which is Jesse Jackson, Jr.”

Yes, I realize this, but you are getting it. “Someone else” refers to JJJ, yes, add “someone else” to what he just said about The Valerie Jarrett portion and you will understand the meaning. (To paraphrase: “In addition to the person making the Jarret deal, another person approached Blagojevich, Jesse Jackson Jr.”)

You MUST read the context, please read the transcript. I posted the link.

I agree: I don’t see a WAY to break the liberal stranglehold on the infostructure in general and the MSM in particular, but is indeed the key to taking back the country.

Frankly, I don’t think anything is going to change the direction of this country short of a cataclysmic loss of American life.

That is why there was such a rush to shut down the investigation; Obama was about to be exposed for what he is; just another Chicago hack.

The Chicago Tribune spilled the beans here. They clammed up for almost eight months, then let go with the FBI- wire story. The cops had to move fast, just to beat the shredders. If anyone's protecting BO, it's the paper. Just for the record.

*** Well, Fitzgerald has gone out of his way to say that Obama is not involved and Immanuel is not a target of the investigation so whatever innuendo is contained in that quote is probably related to some other group and not Obama. ***

What Fitz said during the press conference about people 'not being targets', etc. doesn't mean much.

When Fitz launched 'Operation Safe Roads' (CDLs for bribes), many high ranking Republicans weren't mentioned as 'targets' either - but they eventually wound up in prison as the lower level trials went on, and the investigation widened with new evidence. This ended with Gov George Ryan (RINO) and his cronies going to prison. Again, Ryan or his cronies were never mentioned as 'targets'.

As to Rezko and Blago with 'Operation Board Games'. Barry had no part in those bribes, but once again another crooked 'Republican' Power Broker (aka The Combine) got caught, Stuart Levine.

I'm NOT defending Barry. Sheesh, I detest the commie.
BUT some of the conspiracy stuff floating around FR about Fitz 'protecting' Obama or Dems in general is getting out of hand. Fitz has put far more Dems in prison than republicans.

Something interesting I noticed while in line at the grocery store yesterday: The Globe (tabloid magazine) had a cover piece about Obamalamadingdong’s presidency being illegitimate because he’s not a citizen of the US. You know the story has legs now for sure ;)

I thought the Trib was sitting on the story for Fitz. I don't rule out the fear of the paper blowing Fitz's cover may have been the reason for the pre-crime arrest and yet the Scooter Libby/Plume/Armitage thing has left me with a suspicious mind when it comes to Fitz's motives.

Can a president pardon himself?

Yes, but he risks blindness.

Obama can always deny he knew anything about it, and that would be that.

He would do that. However, this is politics and Obama would be bloodied. The media will still shill for him but this issue will remain potent for anyone willing to use it against Obama. He will be proved to be either incompetent or a liar.

How did Blago ‘know’ that the Obama transition team only offered ‘appreciation’ for their perfered pic for Obama’s senate seat?

Exactly. There had to be some back and forth between them. If there were any investigative journalists out there, they'd be asking that very question.

It is indeed a cool chart. I stumbled across it while researching Obama/Daley links. If you have too much time on your hands like me, you can spend hours searching for information about all sorts of interesting people, places and things.

Obama's office says his staff had no 'inappropriate contact' with Illinois governor

Rahm, "I never had sex with, nor 'inappropriate contact' , nor had 'inappropriate financial discourse' with the Illinois Governor. Hell, President Obama and I don't even know him."

>Naah... Too damned cold. I blame global warming. [/sarc]

Speaking of Global warming I am getting a sh** load of it here in Northern CA right now. It is hailing hard here and it hasn't gotten above 43F in about 5 days. I know that doesn't sound real cold to some people but I am at about 400 feet elevation. 10 miles from here, at 2000 ft, they have snow coming down pretty hard.

We had that on 9/11 and instead of heeding the warning the masses chose the MSM scapegoat GWB! MSM are maggots and the masses are to lazy or stupid to get a clue.

Agree on the MSM and masses, but 9/11 was not to the level of cataclysmic, at least not to the point of really getting the country's attention. I desperately want to be wrong, but I think the only thing that will wake the masses at this point is a nuke or bio attack on a U.S. city, something that kills tens or hundreds of thousands.

For the past 20 years, this country has grown more liberal by the day, no matter who controlled what in Washington. When the "good guys" were in charge, they at best only marginally slowed the spread of liberalism. At no point in the past 20 years has their been a halt in that spread, and surely no reversal. Liberalism destroys societies.
