The NeoSocialist mentality on the march, world-wide as led by the American Democrat Secular Socialists and their Komrades around the world. Coming soon to a neighborhood near you...

There’s no end to pre-emptive non-offensiveness...

It’s perfectly clear from the article that this was one overzealous employee, while everybody else with the association and her neighbors love the decorations. She didn’t take them down and nobody else wants her to take them down. Not exactly an example of rampant “neosocialist mentality.”

Really? I see no evidence she was forced to take down the decoration. In fact, it appears that everybody else is defending her.

I'm offended by my neighbors who do NOT put up lights.
How's that?

Her assertion of private property rights might also be offensive to her non-American, non-capitalist neighbors. Inconsiderate b%tch....

I think the real problem here is that she didn’t add a Menorah and a Star and Crescent. If she would but do so, all would be just dandy. Cheers!

So let me get this straight: you're expecting me to actually READ the articles? Whew, you're tough, man, tough.
But my point was a broad one: the slope of pre-emptive non-offensiveness is slippery indeed. It's best kept off of.

So if Halloween lights offend a non-pagan how would they court rule on that?

Give a bureaucrat some police power and they will SEEK OUT places and times to use it. We have similar cases in this country by the PC crowds and the infamous ACLU who try to reduce Christmas into Midwinter Festival by intimidation and legal threats.
This gal stood her ground in the face of a over-bearing government type, kudos to her. While it was British public housing, there is still (a bit of) Castle-home concept in Jolly-Old England and the local authorities obviously sucked it in when the community reacted. Still the next time someone decorates they might tone it down and thus succumb to the PC attitudes of the most-easily-offended!

Exactly. It seems like it was only one rogue city employee who was upset by her light display. The city government is supporting the woman with the light display. There are many stories of political correctness gone wild. This is not one of them.

Not only that, but the incident seems to have exposed the government grinch who called to tell her they were offensive, as someone who acted unilaterally and not based on neighbor complaints.
Maybe he'll get reprimanded. Of course he'll never get fired...he's a government employee.

Yep, you’re right. Doesn’t exist and we should not be showing examples of it when it does exist.
