A man wanted by Interpol for his links to an alleged terrorist organisation has been advising Scotland Yard on countering Muslim extremism, a Times investigation has discovered.
Mohamed Ali Harrath has been the subject of the Interpol red notice since 1992 because of his alleged activities in Tunisia, where he co-founded the Tunisian Islamic Front (FIT).
Tunisia has accused Mr Harrath, the chief executive officer of the Islam Channel in Britain and an adviser to the Scotland Yard Muslim Contact Unit, of seeking help from Osama bin Laden. It says that the FIT wants to establish an Islamic state by means of armed revolutionary violence. Mr Harrath has been convicted in absentia of numerous criminal and terrorism-related offences by Tunisian courts and sentenced to 56 years in prison. Tunisia is an ally of the West in the fight against terrorism but is regarded by critics as a police or one-party state. Its secular Government regards those who advocate an Islamic state as a threat to its stability.

Excellent. Scotland Yard has obviously hired an expert. If he’s on the Interpol Wanted list, he must know a thing or two about muslim extremism. So long as he stays on the side of the angels, and does not stray back into his old evil ways, I say “good job” to the UK cops.
Can’t bring myself to point and laugh for so long as we here in the US allow CAIR and Palestinian activists free run.
Also, Tunisia and Morocco have been hit real hard by islamos over the last couple decades. They have good reason to be tight on the issue.

Speaking of the Islam Channel...here’s a bit of trivia:

SNIPPET: “Dalia Mogahed, a member of President Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, joined a representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT) for a television interview in Great Britain on Sunday.
The Global Muslim Brotherhood Daily Report (GMBDR) noted that Mogahed was interviewed along with Dr. Nasreen Nawaz, women’s representative for HT, on the British Muslim show “Muslimah Dilemma,” which airs on the Islam Channel. GMBDR described the program as “a show presented by members of Hizb ut-Tahrir” featuring Nawaz “in her capacity as spokesperson” for the group.”
SNIPPET: “According to Mogahed, the critical issue today is finding ways to integrate sharia and state law in Muslim-majority countries. She said her survey results showed Muslim women wanted equal rights, democracy, and political suffrage. Mogahed said the hijab was not an issue for the women, and that they were most interested in facilitating women’s rights and various good-government issues which in their minds was congruent with sharia.”
