If Peter Costello wants to stay in politics he should move back on to the frontbench, Liberal MP Tony Abbott says.
The former treasurer could recontest the safe blue-ribbon seat of Higgins after failing to secure a position in the private financial sector, Fairfax reports.
"If he is going to stay in the parliament, a man of his talent really does need to be in the front row, not sitting on the sidelines,'' Mr Abbott told Network Nine on Saturday.
"In this business you're either in the main game or you're not.''
