Obamacized GOP

Principle: Former Secretary of State Colin Powell wants his party stripped of the Reaganite values that won it the presidency for 20 of the last 28 years. Meet the "Grand Obama Party."

For many years it has been accepted that Gen. Colin Powell — who became a national icon thanks to appointments by President Ronald Reagan and both President Bushes — was more moderate than many of his colleagues.

What was not known until lately is how much animus he has for the governing philosophy of those who gave him the opportunity to achieve fame and millions in book sales.

In a Sunday CNN interview, Powell charged that Republicans have been "shouting at the world and at the country." They "use polarization for political advantage," listen to talk radio hosts who "seem to appeal to our lesser instincts rather than our better instincts," and aren't looking into the "hearts and minds" of blacks, Hispanics and Asians.

Because of all these sins Republicans lost big this year and "the party has to take a hard look at itself," Powell said in the interview. "There is nothing wrong with being conservative," according to the retired four-star general, but "in another 20 years, the majority in this country will be the minority."

Oh so now he is bashing Reagan. What a piece of crap he is. I’d love 5 minutes with him. Heck, I’d bet Nancy Reagan would love 5 minutes with him. No wonder he doesn’t like Sarah Palin, she reminds him too much of Reagan and his values. GO TO HELL COLIN!!

Dear Colin Powell,
Don't let the door hit you on your way out.

Powell isn’t “moderate.” He is a man without honor. He actively worked to undermine the President who appointed him to his office. He effectively lied by his silence. He is a disgrace. He will continue to do well in the swamp that our Capitol has become, but in the world of decent people, he is the worst kind of person one can be.

I love being preached to by an unqualified nit-wit with a delusion of self importance.

Powell has simply shown the country just how strong IDENTITY POLITICS is.

After all, the guy was a general, and a darn good one. He had a choice to make between a TOTALLY UNQUALIFIED BLACK EXTREMIST and perhaps the most qualified, and certainly the most “moderate” candidate from either party to run.

In the end, he chooses the unqualified BLACK, since the tone of the moderate candidate was “a bit too harsh” - yep, that’s a good reason to throw your country down the gutter.

It will be very hard for conservatives to put their trust in another black candidate after this performance. If he had just been a Democrat...then it would have been fine.

Powell has always been a liberal. And not a moderate. He has done everthing he had to (not wanted to) to rise as far as he could to the top. When he did not get his “liberal way” with Bush, he whined like a baby and quit.

Washington, in general, has become a major embarrassment and a huge disappointment to real Americans, and certainly to the ghosts of our sincere Founding Fathers.....

I think Powell should be challenged to tell us where he disagrees with Obama. If he can’t name any point of disagreement, then he should be asked why he is not a Democrat. Because he is.

Well, if nothing else good comes this election (and it probably won’t) at least we’ve seen Powell’s true nature.

Colin Powell is not an “Uncle Tom”. It appears, perhaps, that he is better described as an “Uncle Arnold” (Benedict, that is).

“Well, if nothing else good comes this election (and it probably won’t) at least we’ve seen Powell’s true nature.”

That is a very good point. There were a LOT of Republicans, at all levels, taken in by him, back when he made noises about entering politics.

I never was taken in, simply because I could not find a SINGLE CONSERVATIVE VALUE in him...about all you heard from others was that he was better than a Democrat...and I don’t know about that.

Powell’s hateful slam of Palin over her affection of “small town values” was one of the most disgusting comments I’ve heard in recent weeks.

If Powell doesn’t know what “small town values” means ... then he is not competent to be a trash truck driver much less a top advisor to a US President.

Who’d have thunk that Powell has been harboring this resentment of small town folks all this time .... pretending to be a man for all peoples.

What a phoney hypocrite....
