Barack Obama never renounced his U.S. citizenship. Also, as he was a minor when he moved to Indonesia, neither he nor his parents could have renounced it. Period. As far as U.S. law is concerned, Barack Obama never lost his U.S. citizenship even as he gained Indonesian citizenship. Indonesia’s laws on the matter simply don’t apply in this country.
And so while multiple lawsuits challenging his eligibility still have appeals left to be exhausted, the simple fact of the matter is that there is no credible evidence that Barack Obama is anything other than a U.S. citizen “natural born” in a Hawaiian hospital in 1961. As a result, none of the cases submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court is likely to be heard.
But will the quashing of the various legal challenges be enough to satisfy those that have bought into these unsupported theories?
If past conspiracy theories can be a guide, then “no.”

I don’t think that Daily Kos issued the COLB, I think they received a digital copy from the campaign. I think they blacked out the serial numbers because they were told that someone could use them to access other files. The later copies of the BC didn’t have the serial number blacked out. I doesn’t invalidate the COLB because a digital copy isn’t valid anyway. The actual document that was scanned, wasn’t altered in any way. Only the digital copy was blacked out.
Okay, I'll now believe that Obama spent some amount of money on this, since he and the DNC did respond to the lawsuit filed by Berg (and have presumably responded to other lawsuits). That doesn't mean they've spent hundreds of thousands of dollars; I doubt that anyone has any actual knowledge of the amount. My own guess would be in the tens of thousands of dollars -- my brother is an attorney, so I have at least a vague idea of what lawyers might charge to file responses to motions and lawsuits.
But let's assume that they have run up several hundred thousand or even a million in legal fees. Whatever it is, it is hardly indicative of guilt on Obama's part. The suggestion that he could have saved that money by simply producing his original birth certificate is nonsensical. The Berg lawsuit was not just a demand for a birth certificate. It was a demand that Obama be disqualified from being elected President (and also a demand for attorney's fees). Producing a birth certificate wouldn't have made the lawsuit disappear; it would simply have been entered into evidence for a subsequent trial.
Obama's attorneys took the smart (and most cost effective) route by getting the lawsuit dismissed for lack of standing, to avoid the much greater expense of additional depositions and discovery and trial costs.
The whole line of argument -- that only a guilty person would spend a bunch of money defending himself against lawsuits, whereas an innocent person would immediately provide documents in response to lawsuits which that innocent person considered frivolous -- is absurd. Under today's legal system, the respondent in any lawsuit is going to have to spend a lot of money defending himself regardless of its degree of legitimacy.
Obama's attorney is Joe Sandler, senior partner at Sandler, Reiff & Young and counsel/hitman for the Council on Islamic Relations. Comparing those billables to those of a typical attorney are apples and oranges. I am also a practitioner of the dark arts and I can tell you with some degree of certainty that Joe Sandler ain't cheap.
That doesn't answer the question as to why the DailyKos ever had anything to do with Obama providing proof of his birth. DailyKos DID issue a forged COLB, the “Haye I.B Aphorgerie” COLB within three hours of a request for one. This sort of image however is what we are expected to take as evidence on Fightthesmears, of Obama's Hawaiian birth.
The Obama campaign was aware of what the DailyKos was doing as you suggest, they forwarded the COLB to them, and left the serial number blacked out. If in fact this was forwarded to DailyKos as proof of anything, why wasn't the blacked out serial number corrected immediately? Why was it ever issued to DailyKos?
Your point as to the scanned image not being proof of anything brings up the question as to why the actual COLB hasn't been made available to the press. A biased website (DailyKos) got the scanned image, the Obama campaign then posted a scanned image on Fightthesmears, then photographs were offered... again at a biased website (FactCheck).
Why the song and dance?
