Very few gas stations are open, because they need electricity to pump, and many roads are blocked by trees and wires. People were driving for miles to get gas for their generators. Some gas stations that were open have run out.

Local supermarkets that are on generators are running out of some foods, if they didn’t have to throw the food out.

To the posters who told us to go freeze, die libs, etc...go screw yourselves.

I've been without power since Thursday night. I'm posting this from a friend's house who does have power. The generators are holding up, but as previously mentioned, it's tough keeping gas in them because even if you're as I was, with nearly 20 gallons on hand before this started, that fuel doesn't last forever. Add to that the fact it was down in the single-digits or below zero in many areas last night, and you get the idea. C and D-cell batteries are nearly impossible to come by. Bottled water for those who do not have wells is running short in some places. Fortunately, I've been rather lucky in that we've had plenty of food and fuel for the time being, and frankly, having not seen a television or the Internet for a few days was a nice break. I just hope those of you who told us to all go freeze, suffer, etc., reflect on your words. Not all of us here are liberals, and nobody deserves your hateful words. We're supposed to be the compassionate ones, remember?
