Home school or Christian school, if one can afford it. Our three are in a local Christian school whose tuition is kept low.
My son, at age 10, realized the truth in an extraordinary way. He was being homeschooled at the time, but needed to have an assessment by a specialist, and the session was scheduled mid-morning on a school day at a local middle school in Oceanside, CA. My son and the evaluator walked a couple hundred yards — it took them a few minutes — across the parking lot and past the classrooms. In those minutes my son heard dozens of f-bombs, saw big kids bullying smaller ones, saw loud, rude and uncouth behavior. It totally opened his eyes.
He came home and told us, “now I know why we’re either homeschooled or at Christian schools.”
Those few minutes were of incalculable value.
Like taking her to the soup kitchens/homeless shelters for service work, having regular contact with missionaries working in dangerous parts of the world......
Don’t forget that Tim Tebow is one of those Einsteins or Babe Ruths that should have been aborted. His mother’s testimony is extraordinary. All the doctors advised her to abort her baby but she carried the infant to term.
OK, you are entitled to your opinion - as long as you don't state your opinion as fact.
What do you base your "point" on - can you cite specific, balanced studies (not sponsored by the teacher's unions)?
I am basing my view on personally knowing scores of adolescents and adults who were home-schooled, as well as being personally immersed in the home-school culture - from my observations I deduce just the opposite of what you are saying - it seems to me that a higher percentage of publicly-schooled people have a difficulty adjsuting to "real" life than the home-schooled people I know.
