ABC News CHICAGO Businessmen with ties to both Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson discussed raising $1 million for Blagojevich to help persuade him to appoint Jackson to President-elect Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat, according to a published report.
Citing unnamed sources, the Chicago Tribune reports in a story for Friday's editions that businessman Raghuveer Nayak and Blagojevich aide Rajinder Bedi told attendees at an Oct. 31 meeting that they needed to raise the money for the governor to ensure Jackson's appointment.
"Raghu said he needed to raise a million for Rod to make sure Jesse got the seat," an unidentified source who attended the meeting told the Tribune. Blagojevich also attended the meeting, which was sponsored by Nayak, an Oak Brook businessman.

Reads like a nice Christmas story introducing us to the Indian counterparts to Donner and Blitzen.
Once again confirming the axiom that you should never pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel.
There’s a lot of “singing” going on, and it’s not Christmas carols!
I'd be satisfied if Jackson got the heat he deserved. He was whining a little too much Wednesday during that presser, which indicates pay dirt. The Tribune, liberal as it is, does have some real reporters who can crack this twinkie fast and write a good story about it to boot. Obama has better talent around him. It'll take a little longer to get results.
State Health Committee:
Raghuveer Nayak MS, RPh,(co-chair),owner/operator of MRI centers and a clinical laboratory, former owner of chain drug stores, and an architect of the proposed “Cook County Prescription Assistance Coverage for the Elderly” program; Sen. Barack Obama, 13th District, Democratic Spokesman on Public Health and Welfare Committee.
Follow this path...
Who are these people? I gather the Irish are still strong in Chicago politics......
He basically wanted members of the Trib editorial staff fired in return for the Tribune Company getting financial help with the sale of Wrigley Field, as I understand it. Sam Zell (Trib Co. owner) was trying to avoid getting reamed for something like $100 million in taxes on the sale, and had negotiated some transfer arrangement with the state that would limit his tax burden; but when Blago got some negative editorial press in the Tribune, he threatened the deal unless the negative press stopped.
As politically liberal as journalists are, I imagine they react like mama bears when you threaten them. The Trib will be at the forefront of taking Blago down, and the rest of the media will gleefully follow behind like sharks on a blood trail. None of this, of course, will EVER lead back to The One. They’ll destroy Blago, and leave JJJ3 and The One unscathed.

“But, then I thought ties to terrorists looked bad. I doubt any of this scandal is going to stick to 0bamanation.”

I agree.
The idiot governor and maybe some lesser lights will be all that goes down in this.
We are after all, talking about Democrats. Additionally, what self-hating white, liberal journalist is going to do the politically-incorrect thing, and go after corrupt black politicians?
Jackson, Obama, et al.....spotless.
One has to think that Jesse Sr also had a hand in this.
Hey, bscso. Over here. Looky at this little link. Triangulates JJJ, Blago and Opossum. Maybe even Michelle.
