Yep. Trillions for the moneychangers but zip for the proletariat. Elitism is alive and well in the U.S.
I’m watching/listening to CNBC right now and they are expecting Bush to bankroll the auto bailout from the TARP. I didn’t know that I voted for Vladimir Illyich Bush when I voted in 2000 and 2004.
Ensign (R) No; Reid (D) No.
Interesting.
Trillions for bankers, but not a penny for actual producers!
This is what will happen to many US companies if the Congress takes away the secret ballot and allows unionization by thugary.
We are still free to buy foreign cars and That may be where I buy my next one, if Obama will let me.
Interesting.
Not really. Remember, under the rules of the Senate, if the leader votes against the bill, he can bring it up again. It is not dead. Probably, Reid voted for it initially and then when the saw it was going to fail, he changed his vote to "No" so he would have the right to bring it up later.
“Trillions for bankers, but not a penny for actual producers!”
Huh? Your joking right? The UAW is a producer? A producer of what - communism, socialism....corruption. GM and Chrysler need to go bankrupt in order to clean house. Giving them money only banrupts our childrens future.
Time for freepers, like you, to quit relying on the MSNBC for your news.
Rework the companies so they can make cars that they can sell and get them to a price that they will be able to compete with the other companies that make cars in the United States.
As GM said they lied about their cars and said they were sorry!
You are blinded by your hate for unions. There is clearly no way to convince people like you that that these people made a deal to get paid. Just like the CEO's and bankers.
Do you carry the same hatred of police, firemen and teacher's unions?
I wonder how many times the lie of "they make $78/hr." will be posted on this thread?
We are gonna miss Wayne Allard.
I wonder how many times the lie of "they make $78/hr." will be posted on this thread?
I don't know if the $78.00 figure is correct but I do know that despite the recession Toyota, Honda and other non-union maufacturer's are able to turn a profit on the cars they are selling while the Big Three/UAW manufacturuer's are losing money with each car sold.
It isn't just the hourly pay, it's the cost of pay, benefits, and retirement that costs upwards of $70 per hour, compared to around $48 for non-union automakers operating in the US.
Here's a little fun fact to throw around:
COBURN: In 2007, GM sold 9.37 million cars worldwide. Toyota, that same year, sold 9.37 million cars worldwide. GM lost 38.7 billion. Toyota made 17.7 billion. Therein lies the problem.
Obviously, GM (and Ford and Chrysler) have a problem making money, and that problem is directly related to their excessive labor costs.
Exactly right. The UAW are toxic parasites. In collusion with management they have fouled their own nest, and now expect you to pay to clean it up.
The Big 3 need to fail so that the US Car Industry will survive and prosper. Anything else is a socialist fever-dream.
Yes, they're playing politic because the Democrats are playing politics. This is all about keeping the money flowing to Democrats via the taxpayers.
“The unions have consistantly shut down US companies rather than work for a competitive wage.”

In my local community we had 2 firms leave: dresser pumps and crown cork and seal..why did they leave?? the Union
asked for more benefits & raises when both co’s told them that they would BK them if they agreed..so what happened?
every one of the Union jobs were lost and co’s moved.
Those guys still cry about the great health care and salary that they lost.they were making $20/hr and great benefits as they all now say, but the union would not give even a little.
I can answer that one. ABSOLUTELY! Unions for government workers should be outlawed.
