[RECOMMEND- SEE Full 2 minute video at site. Powell tells future}
In an interview with CNN- General Colin Powell said of Gov. Sarah Palin:
"Gov. Palin, to some extent, pushed the party more to the right, and I think she had something of a polarizing effect when she talked about how small town values are good. Well, most of us dont live in small towns. And I was raised in the South Bronx, and theres nothing wrong with my value system from the South Bronx."

Way too many from the South Bronx have moved here, Port St. Lucie because it is the spring training headquarters of the N.Y. Mets.
I prefer the values the folks of Okeechobee have.

Alright already, Colon. You now have the “street cred”. Now go out and rap, brother.

General, you were obviously raised by parents who gave a damn, unlike most of today's occupants of the South Bronx. You would have no "street cred" if you were there today!

Colin who?!
Just another brain-dead liberal who knows NOTHING of what America stands for and was founded on.
There is nothing inherently wrong with living in the city and there are lots of good people who live there. What a city does though is increase chances of crime and control. Control of course being what libs love most.
Just too much room for abuse of power etc. I know it takes place in rural areas as well but that situation is usually on an individual basis and not a collective level.

Colin. You'd better find a job in a democratic administration. We don't want you on our side. Especially attacking our girl.
And how well do you sleep at night knowing you could have halted this whole Valery Plame witch hunt? An innocent man is in jail due to your failure to do the right thing.

I think a lot of us conservatives bend over backwards to find blacks that we can recognize as being on our side. There is some white guilt, even among those who should know better.
Many here on FR are in love with Michael Steele, but the last time I checked the guy is on board with Affirmative Action. Sorry, but that ASSUMES white racism (and white racism only), is a problem, compromising black opportunity, that requires a government solution.
If conservatism is to survive, whether within the Republican party or without, We need to be much more rigid in our prerequisites, no matter the color of the candidate’s skin.

Another Bush creation we have to thank...if they didn’t keep appointing him to crap and throwing stars on him nobody would give a good damn what he thinks.
Also, he is for gays in the military now.
Can’t stand this man.

He grew up in the South Bronx in the 40's and 50's. Other than the place being filled with Yankees fans, it wasn't bad. Dion Dimucci could be my neighbor.
If the "majority" of the country adopts "South Bronx" values instead of small town values, we have trouble, right here in River City.

I was born and raised in Northern Virginia, and I can assure you that the Northern Virginia of the ‘60’s is not even CLOSE to the Northern Virginia of today. Back then, it WAS a small town with small town values. Today, I don’t even recognize it. The rest of Virginia is what Northern Virginia was “back in the day.”

Interesting video. He seems to have no understanding of Palin's appeal. He wants to scrap "Don't Ask - Don't Tell," but he doesn't mention what that might do to recruitment, morale, and combat readiness. He wants Republicans to listening to (pander to) minority groups, as though conservative values somehow don't work for non-whites.
He supported Obama for president.
Come on, Colin, have the decency to change your party registration.
