Conservative Republicans Still Widely Support Bush (Gallup: 72% approval rating)

PRINCETON, NJ -- George W. Bush remains popular among conservative Republicans (72% approve of him) despite his low overall approval rating. Meanwhile, moderate and liberal Republicans are as likely to disapprove as to approve of the job he is doing, and Democrats of all political orientations hold Bush in low regard.

These results are based on Gallup Poll Daily tracking conducted Dec. 1-9, including interviews with more than 9,000 U.S. adults.

During this time, Bush has averaged 29% job approval among all Americans -- reflecting a slight improvement from the 25% approval rating he had at the time of the November election, yet still dismal by historical standards.

As bad as he has been on some things (including his stump-headed support for a socialist bailout of the uaw), we will miss him when the corrupt muzzie marxist reigns.

after the bailout you’d think he’d only have a 2% approval by conservatives, let alone the entire country.

It is probably a ‘grass is always greener’ support. Compared to Bambi, W would have a 72% rating.

I find it hard to believe that any "conservative republicans" support Bush's criminal Sovietization of our economy.

I was a 2-time Bush voter, did and still do support our action in Iraq, but with W's recent economic hijinks, I'd be happy to see him thrown in jail as a domestic enemy.

What he and Paulson have done is an abomination, and is humiliating to the Republican party.

Some of this is conservatives recognizing that the media is constantly assaulting him and thus they support him. If some MSM pollster called me, I'd say I support him too although, speaking for myself, I think Bush is doing a horrible job on domestic economic issues and have since the beginning of his first term with No Child Left Behind, Free Drugs for Seniors, and a load of other spending programs that came under the banner of Compassionate Conservatism.

Having said that, I'd say that overall I support him because the Dems are even worse and I agree with him on foreign policy and national security/war issues.

TO THE “WHINY HOSERS” ON THIS THREAD:

HOTAIR.COM
Reviewing his decision to implement the surge, Bush recalled the political pressures on him to retreat: “It was in this room that a prominent member of my political party said, ‘You must remove troops from Iraq because it could cost us elections if you don’t,’” the president said, gesturing around the Oval Office. “And it was in this room I looked at him and said, ‘You must not understand George W. Bush.’”

The comments following the above hotair.com post are predominantly positive, none more so that the following MUST READ AND SAVE CLASSIC:

“I think the guy’s a stud. I really do.
I think the party is a dud.
I think that the constituency is as well.
I liken it to my home state’s fans. They started out as GREAT LOYAL FANS. RAISING DA’ ROOF!
They unfortunately deteriorated into whiny hosers.

Bush did more than one thing right.
* Tax cuts.
* Steering us through the worst terrorist attack in our history.
* Then helping us get our economy really humming and sending the dow to 14000 plus for the first time in history.
* Liberating Iraq.
* Getting rid of Saddam.
* Seriously dismantling Al queda.
* Killing Zarquawi.
* Liberating Afghanistan.
* While everyone (including whiny week kneed, limpy spined Republicans -including repub voters) said “get out, and give up on iraq. He STOOD FIRM.
* Stood firm on Stem Cell funding.
* Delivered two GREAT scotus judges.

Was he perfect? Course not. But you tell me a prez in history that was ‘perfect’, with no mistakes and I’ll give you a shiny new Nickel, and a hearty pat on the back.
But IF NOT, I’ll give you a pat on the fanny and tell you to go stand in the corner young conservative and don’t come out till you–”GROW UP“

Doesn’t suprise me. I would vote for him again in a heartbeat if he could run for re-election.

Something is wrong with the figures. If Republicans are about 33% of the electorate and 72% of them approve of George Bush, that means 25.41% of the 29% who support Bush are from that part of the electorate meaning the other 67% of the electorate accounts for the remaining 3.59% of Bush’s support. That means Bush’s approval rating among that 67% would be an abysmal 5.36%!

To the point, after their leftward slither, these days “conservative Republican” has about as much meaning as “chaste prostitute.”

Given Gallup’s performance during the two last elections (2006 and 2008), you can add 10 points to the President’s job approval rating and subtract 10 points from his disapproval rating:

JA rating among conservative Republicans:
approximately 80%

JA rating among the ‘adults’ who took this survey:
approximately 40%

It’s a sign of defiance... if asked, I’d also voice my approval for W only to make a point against the libs.

If a pollster asked, I would answer that I still support him just to spite the idiot liberals, but the truth is that he lost me after right after he beat Kerry when he quit even trying to fake being a conservative and he wimped out like his father and caved at every opportunity.

Gallup and the alphabets routinely UNDER-REPRESENT RREPUBLICANS in their polling samples — they’ve gotten as low as 21% Republicans in recent polls, which is why these same polls give Obama a 65% - 70% approval rating.

Free Drugs for Seniors,

Well, at least this stopped all talk of the US buying drugs from Canada.
