CALDWELL - An email that compares Michelle Obama to a black widow spider is circulating the Internet.
CBS 2 received a copy of the email from a concerned viewer. The email was forwarded by Canyon County commissioner Steve Rule.
"The female has a very wide backside, is Black, and has a red hour glass shaped marking on her belly," the email says.
The email continues, "You can find this spider in Closets, Wood piles, Under beds, And soon... THE WHITE HOUSE!!!!!!
Following the comments is a photograph of Michelle Obama wearing a red and black dress.
The president of the Idaho Human Right's Commission, Estella Zamora, came to CBS 2 Eyewitness News last week after hearing about the email.
"One of the things that we should be doing is supporting each other and supporting the newly elected president," Zamora said. "For one of our own Canyon County Commissioners to be distributing this type of information is, in my opinion, disgusting," Zamora said.
Commissioner Rule sent this statement regarding the email to CBS 2 Eyewitness News:
"I found the red markings on the dress shown in the email very similar to that of the spider and that made it humorous to me. If that has offended anyone I sincerely apologize, and all concerned parties can be assured that in the future, I will not use a county computer to forward emails that are not directly related to county business."
I do see the connection between the spider and dress though.
Good comparison. To me she looked like a storm warning flag.
such a shame that Americans have lost thier sense of humor and can’t laugh at themselves anymore. everyone feels they have to apologize for everything and anything.
Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? I tell you I gotta plead ignorance on this thing because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing was frowned upon....
Thank you Mr. Costanza!
Brian
p.s. I understand you like your chicken spicy?
Oooooooo...cashmere. Wait... what’s that spot?
I don’t remember reading the good humor and laughter when jokes were being made about Sarah Palin. As always, indignation depends on whose ox is being gored.
