The influence of Iran on Lebanese Shi3a is less now than it was before. It was so bad that for a time in Lebanon it was actually trendy among radicals to speak Arabic with a Persian accent. 7izbullah’s policy has become more Lebanese-oriented instead of internationalist (that was at the same time that Iran under Rafsanjani started cutting back on its internationalist activities). With A7madinejad, it has internationalized more, but never to its previous levels. However, 7izbullah is very clear of its goals to establish an Islamic state in Lebanon & help export Shi3a revolution, & that they are only not pushing for that right now because Lebanese Shi3a just don’t support it. Yet.
When Fadlullah dies, we have a serious problem because the next generation of Lebanese Shi3a will begin taking Khamene2i or some other Iranian ayatullah as their marja3 & following their theocratic ideas.
