Have the auto workers stood up and said they want the unions to renegotiate a more realistic contract?

Just wondering what, if anything, the “workers” are willing to “give” to get the money I’ve earned to keep their jobs.

If they had any intellectual property they wouldn’t be in this situation. Let them and their Union Goon buddies rust away.

Once again it appears the stooges of the GOP have picked the wrong hill to die on.

LOL somebody should have threatened them with martial law again.

"I do understand this and don’t care because the future is Asia and I get that. Do you?"

Yep; and the election of The Messiah sealed the deal.

Payback to the Unions for hundreds of millions to The Chosen One's campaign from Union Dues of members, and we are supposed to be concerned about their problems?

Honda, Toyota, BMW, VW, etc. seem to know how to run auto businesses successfully in the USA, at a PROFIT, and COINCIDENTALLY WITHOUT NO STINKIN' UNIONS !

The Unions are NOT going to concede their lavish contracts that prevent continental successful competition, and with the mandates for the Enviro-wacko's in the Bailout, we can all drive Yugo's and roller-skate-like sh$tboxes so the "millions of jobs can be saved" by the Dupes/Democrats.

I have no problem with bankruptcy and re-structuring, and let the chips fall where they may.

With all the foreign money that The One had funneled in from foreign interests, you have to be pretty dense to think they don't have assurances of payback (just like the Unions).

I talked to a business friend who has an acquaintance that has someone from Dubai interested in buying EUR500,000,000 worth of real estate in America. I know this is a whisper down the alley scenario, but there is no stopping outside buyers from buying land in America.

If the auto co. execs were really about saving the industry, they would not take the bailout monies and allow the companies to go into bankruptcy to break the union/democrat death grip and save the industry in the long run.

The government bailing out the auto industry amounts to the government buying the auto industry, which is what they did with the financial institutions, and that’s fascism.

If our government doesn’t stop spending and borrowing, we will be owned by the Chinese anyway. We have got to reinstate some market principles in this country or we will not survive at all.

To sum up: everybody gets it.
China will invest whatever it takes to make its new car companies profitable, and we’ll be buying cars assembled in the US with components made elsewhere and sending the profits to China.

When China or some other foreign power buys all of the big three intellectual property, any US manufacturer in the future who wants to use said patented technology RESEARCHED and DEVELOPED in the US will have to PAY China.

It’s fine; but I honestly think most Americans have no clue about these subtle issues. Good luck in your new third world.

The US gov’t would need to buy the assets of the big three itself, even if they are not in production, and hold a US only auction for all of the assets.

Otherwise, we’re literally putting the noose around our own neck in the worldwide market.

It would be far worse than if Intel went bellyup and the CPUs that power the world (with their 20 years worth of future patents) went to some country like China.

People can fathom that disaster as it would mean instant inferiority on all fronts, including military, cyber war and so on. We would be a 2nd tier country.

If this keeps going, the US isn’t going to drop to the level of France. It’s going to drop like a stone to something like Brazil. Jees.

The Republicans will act tough and shutdown the bailout. Then the bill will be reworked, and it will increase in size to $25 billion with republican and democrat pork. This will help the Republicans feel better about sending the American people up $#!T creek without a paddle, and they will approve this bailout just like the last one. pond scum.

Boy, you nailed it.
