The words 'Sarah Palin' have emerged as the fastest rising search query in Google's highly regarded end of year 'zeitgeist' rankings. The former vice-presidential candidate beat President-elect Barack Obama who ranks only sixth on the list.
In the physical world too, Palin continues to drum up support. On Tuesday the Alaskan governor opened up her governor's mansion in Juneau to more than 3,000 members of the public. "Thanks for coming over. Merry Christmas to you," Palin repeated over and over again, accompanied by seven-month-old Trig Palin (pictured, during the campaign) dressed in a Santa suit. Visitors were offered their share of 25,000 cookies bought for the event, provided with hot drinks and given a tour of the property.
Elsewhere in Alaska the turkey bloodily slaughtered in the background as Palin gave her infamous Thanksgiving TV interview has been sold for $225 on EBay. "Gobble up a slice of Alaskan history," boasted the listing. "This is the official turkey from the video which comes with a letter of authenticity signed by the farm's owner."
Half of the proceeds of the sale are due to go to the local Department of Veterans' Affairs. "The lucky winner of this turkey will have something to talk about for years and years to come," wrote the enterprising farmhand. "Thank you for viewing my auction and God Bless America."
Yes, we can and there is hope for 2012!
The fear and loathing from the other side regarding Sarah is the best news we’ve had since Reagan. She scares them WITLESS.
I am politically-speaking in “love” with this woman!
With Apologies to my wife... ;)
BTW... THE FR RULES CLEARLY STATE YOU MUST PROVIDE A PICTURE WHEN DISCUSSING ANN OR SARAH!!!
Notice she says “Merry Christmas” not Happy Holidays. How can people hate this woman? She represents what the USA should be.
Who wrote this? Why is the title and this line trying to make it seem like she's mayor Bloomberg with hundreds of millions of dollars and her very own "mansion?"
Note to world: it's the governor's mansion and belongs to THE PEOPLE!
No pix from the event? There’s a photo on the site, but not of Trig in the Santa suit.
Thank you!
Sarah Palin is such a breath of fresh air.....so down to earth, sincere and HONEST! What a lady......
How hard is it to emigrate to Alaska? :)
I can’t wait until I have the chance to vote for this woman!
That’s a good looking all American family! Or part of one anyhow.
Yep I notice that too. I guess she didn’t get the memo that you are supposed to not say the word “Christmas”.
Shame on her. (sarcasm)
Whatever happened to her prego daughter? Tsk tsk, she had a daughter who got pregnant somehow without a husband. Doesn’t that mean that abstinence education is worthless? maybe it even means she’s a bad mother (more sarcasm)
I wish the N.Y. Times had written more stories about Sarah’s baby and her daughter’s pregnancy. They were legitimate campaign issues according to Barney Frank.
You don’t “emigrate” to Alaska as such. It’s a state of the United States, so you can just pick up and move if you want to. You don’t need permission or a passport or anything like that.
I still can’t get over how many liberals/radical types questioned someone from Alaska running for vice-president. They indicated that since it’s not connected to the lower 48, that somehow it doesn’t count. Yet Obama being from Hawaii and having lived in other countries during his childhood was ok.
It’s not even her “home” (i.e. the Wasilla house seen in the Lauer and VanSustern interviews) it’s the ceremonial residence in Juneau.
Where is this picture from? I hope the media isn’t tailing Sarah to Piper’s pediatrician or something.
“her mansion” is like calling the White House “Obama’s mansion”
It is the “Executive Mansion” or “President’s Mansion” but those terms are hardly ever used anymore.
