In these days of longer commutes and simmering tempers, nothing seems to set off already-testy motorists like the left-lane camper -- the guy or gal who drives in the passing lane and bars faster drivers from easily passing. Web sites have cropped up to educate other drivers, or to vent. There's a (somewhat painful) YouTube song called "Keep Right."
Even bigwigs get frustrated. Pennsylvania Gov. Edward Rendell, weary of having his limo slowed down by such left-lane pokies, ordered an aide to have the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission install signs a few years ago reading "Keep Right, Pass Left. It's the Law."
And now some states are cracking down on left-lane campers, both to keep traffic moving and to tamp down the road rage that goes from zero-to-60 faster than ever before.
That's not just a pretext. Last year, a driver was arrested on Interstate 79 outside Pittsburgh after allegedly brandishing a semiautomatic pistol at a driver who was on his tail.

The point is that you need to keep right and let the cops deal with the speeders.
It's not your job.
Personally, I don't care if you tool along in the left lane at the speed limit. Break the law all you want.
Right up until I come up to pass you. Then I care. You feel free to try to "make your point" and I'll give you a sunburn on the back of your head and make you see spots for an hour.
Or you can drift to the right, I'll motor on by and then you can resume your trip in the left lane.
I posted the snippet about FL law because you wanted to be all self-righteous about how those evil speeders are breaking the law and that somehow makes you superior to them.
Sorry Tats. Trying to teach a lesson to law breakers by breaking the law yourself doesn't make you superior.
It just makes you a jerk.
I figured that this thread could use some levity.
Have a good one FRiend.
It was a great laugh.
I will relay it to our younger son who did a 18 year leave of absence in Beaver Land.
After thinking about it further, it wasn’t at all like shooting fish in a barrel. Instead it was more like hooking beavers in their dams!
Have a good one, gotta go face my 1.2 mile commute.
My wife is currently pregnant. Getting her to the hospital in the case of an emergency.
My son gets injured at school.
I suggest if you have such an emergency call an ambulance.
Actually, I spend a good deal of time "thinking". Thinking about how the state troopers do not seem to believe the laws apply to them at all, in fact all the city cops in these parts seem to believe the same thing.
I'm no attorney and I'll allow there may be some some arcane exception in the highway code which allows state troopers to exceed the speed limit for specific purposes, they're setting a great example by NEVER obeying the law. And I mean never.... I see them daily on I95 and have YET to see ANY state trooper driving under 75 mph and often 80 and over.
I've seen city cops turn their lights on just to go through a red light and literally (I kid you not) turned into the Dunkin Donuts 100 yards away.
Needless to say and as I'm sure you've guessed by now, I have little respect for the types that tend to gravitate toward law enforcement these days. It's a lot different than when I was a kid.
Whether strictly legal or not, they have no moral right to disobey the same laws they intend to enforce by writing tickets. Exceeding the speed limit for the purpose of catching an unsuspecting driver who is exceeding the speed limit is like a microcosm of the police state.
Respect them all you want, but I'll just drive 80 right beside them and pay whatever fines they want to levy while I look the young @ssholes in the eye and ensure they are aware what I think of them.
Not sure what any of that had to do with helping you understand how rude it is for you decide how fast traffic should flow by parking yourself in the fast lane. Beginning to wonder now if you're a retired or wanabe cop yourself by your attitude. It's just rude for anyone to camp over there for their own convenience, whether that applies to you or not.
This was the topic of the thread, camping in the left lane, not the speed anyone drives.
hey, tailgater, going 70 in a 65 never caused an accident like you tailgaters do
So, pass me of follow, but get off my ass, lawbreaker!
You sound like a liberal. I guess I should get rid of my pistols and just call the police while I am getting stabbed.
Don't ever ask a conservative to be less self-reliant, you selfish, self-centered, arrogant left-lane hog.
Seriously Race. We had nothing to do with your lack of manhood. A comic book hero name and your insecurity on the highway are not going to cure it. Try therapy.
Blah, blah, blah........
Another whiny loser to the Mexicans who wants to tailgate someone who isn’t even going slow!
Bite me, Cowboy, just what do you want to be when you grow up? A Stockbroker??
It’s a sad day when people consider someone who is going over the speed limit as SLOW
Sadder yet when traffic is just as bad in front of me as it is behind...except, YOU are the one tailgating, not me
The driver was struggling to find the local zoo, so he gave them a warning and told them directions to the zoo.
I'm sure the cop had to struggle mightily to keep from telling the driver that he should be living in the zoo.
thats what 911 and ambulances are for....just ask the lady that got tickets last week by a trooper whose husbancd was speeding to get her to the hospital to have a baby....
A nice liberal statement. Give up your guns because you can call the police......
now i am a libreal...that is low....you can call me anything you like...but that i will not stand for.....lol...
I know that you are not a liberal, but you have to admit the analogy is hard to swallow.
Let's just agree to disagree and we'll work it out when we crash into each other. :)
One day this trooper pulled over this little old lady supposedly driving too SLOW!!...but she reminded the officer of the twenty mile SIGN!!... Looking in the back seat he observed three women, sitting boldly upright....Asked what happened, the driver mentioned ‘We just got off of 195!!!!
