a) suppressed the Chicago Tribune from mentioning this scandal before the election

and:

b) Then rushed to ambush Blagojevich before he could implicate and ensnare 0bama in his wire tapped conversations

Almost. But recall he kept the Libby investigation going for months and months and months after he'd determined who'd leaked her name to the press (Armitage), in hopes of snaring more people in perjury traps. By comparison, Fitz shut down the Blago investigation in the middle of what he called a "corruption crime spree". This had the handy effect of stopping the investigation from definitively snaring additional perps. Such as, oh for instance, Obama.

So don't make the mistake of thinking Fitz is on our side. He did Obama a big favor with his surprisingly premature timing. Investigatus Interruptus.
