Chicago Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL) is the anonymous "Senate Candidate #5" whose emissaries Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich reportedly claimed offered up to a million dollars to name him to the U.S. Senate, federal law enforcement sources tell ABC News.

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. said today that the FBI wants to interview him as part of the investigation into Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, though he says he's been told he is not a target of the probe. In this 2005 file photo, Blagojevich, left, is congratulated by Rev. Jesse Jackson, right, and Jackson's son, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. D-Ill., second from right, after Blagojevich delivered his State of the State address to a joint session of the Illinois General Assembly in the House of Representatives at the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield, Ill. According to the FBI affidavit in the case, Blagojevich "stated he might be able to cut a deal with Senate Candidate 5 that provided ROD BLAGOJEVICH" with something "tangible up front."

Jackson Jr. said this morning he was contacted yesterday by federal prosecutors in Chicago who he said "asked me to come in and share with them my insights and thoughts about the selection process."

Jackson Jr. said "I don't know" when asked if he was Candidate #5, but said he was told "I am not a target of this investigation."

I am left wondering how much the Kennedy’s are offering for a Caroline appointment.

It’s not happenstance she was on 0’s VP search committee. Political posturing for the swimmer’s support, IMHO.

I don’t think the Kennedy’s are offering money directly. They are offering Teddy Bear’s political support for NY projects.

Time will tell, but look how quickly life can change. It wasn’t but a few short weeks ago when the country was ready to herald in the new messiah.. well his halo is beginning to loose its luster. Lets just wait and see how this plays out over the next few days. After all, this story just broke yesterday.

Justice, political office and government services are all commodities; you get as much as you can afford.

Who says capitalism is dead? The dems are practicing it quite well.

Illinois politics is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

A tweak of the late Hunter Thompson's quote about the music business.

“Don’t underestimate the power of the race card, FRiend.”

Jesse Senior is very busy these days, sitting in with the fired and disgrunted union employees at the window company and now his son has to go see “The Man.”

I wonder how cold it is in Chi Town today.

This has got to be a record even for Dems, a scandal plagued administration before the inauguration

Maybe Judge Roberts can read Barry his Miranda rights at the inauguration instead of the oath of office.

"How much was paid for the seat when he ran? WHo paid it? How is he planning on paying it back?"

Very Good Point!!!!

It is my understanding that he only won because he got his opponent "disqualified". Personally, I don't think he's smart enough to do that all by himself.

Wouldn't it be sweet irony if the b.c. thing jumped up and disqualified him...we can only "HOPE" for the "CHANGE".
