Blaring from a speaker behind a metal grate in his tiny cell in Iraq, the blistering rock from Nine Inch Nails hit Prisoner No. 200343 like a sonic bludgeon.
Stains like the blood on your teeth, Trent Reznor snarled over distorted guitars. Bite. Chew.
The auditory assault went on for days, then weeks, then months at the U.S. military detention center in Iraq. Twenty hours a day. AC/DC. Queen. Pantera. The prisoner, military contractor Donald Vance of Chicago, told The Associated Press he was soon suicidal.

Morello should be encouraging the play of their music being no one listens to them otherwise.
It's a joke. Some of these musicians have no problem using their music to help the cause while some others say their music is used as torture which by their standard make their music torture.
>> Some musicians, however, say theyre proud that their music is used in interrogations. Those include bassist Stevie Benton, whose group Drowning Pool has performed in Iraq and recorded one of the interrogators favorites, Bodies.
Love that song! Didn’t know Benton and the DP went to Iraq.
>> I suggest that they level Guantanamo Bay, but they keep one small cell and they put Bush in there ... and they blast some Rage Against the Machine, he said to whoops and cheers.
Another pu**y commie this Morello. RATM advocates communism yet here’s the nimrod preaching in the safety of a free-trade and rights society.
I’m not sure it’s that. Some musicians probably don’t want their music used to cause pain, even to the bad guys.
Cool story. Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden (singer) is a a part time airline pilot!

Nicko McBrain has a house not that far away in Fl and he is a huge golfer. Drummer of Iron Maiden.

The local golf paper had a picture of him and he looked great - looked much younger than wiki picture.
If the prisoners (or staff) paid me enough, I might even tune the pipes.
There’s always Slim Whitman.
It’s best that some of those songs torture terrorists rather than the rest of us....
Woody Guthrie
Heck yeah! He still owns the stripbar in Dallas right? What do they think “Mouth for War” was about anyways? Going to the ice cream parlor?
Hypocrites.
So true. Im about as straight laced as I can be, and I still listen to metal and even some old punk rock, when I’m doing paperwork. It breaks up the monotony. Maybe I can mix up some special CD’s to send to our troops and help with the effort.
For the love of God! We signed the Geneva Protocols. What are we, barbarians?
Now that’s just cruel and unusual.
Bar room scuttle butt is that what really makes them cave.....Barry Manilow
It is co-owned by Dimebag, along with Vinnie Paul and Rex of Pantera.
Now that is torture!
If they played the Dead Live he would have been grateful.
