Faced to increased security concerns leading up to national elections, Bishop Gerald Mathias of Lucknow has cancelled traditional Christmas festivities in his diocese.

Aid to the Church in Need reported that the bishop of the northern Indian diocese called off the activities that normally draw tens of thousands of people to the city, including an annual Christmas "Dance Drama," and a traditional event for the chief minister of the state, governor and other dignitaries.

They do not have the security set up we have. Why set up a throng of people to a possible terrorist attack? My goodness the Indian government couldn't handle what happened last week in Mumbai without the death of some 178 people and injuries to over 200.

Very sad... this Christmas I will be in Bombay, and I am looking forward to seeing how it is celebrated there. I hope nothing is canceled, and I hope there’s no craziness.

Corrected, it was the Hindus that they are worried about.

Christians are under attack across the world.
