Based on my Christian background, I agree. The Bible is a work of inspiration (Man inspired by God) not a literal book of science and/or history.
Many of us will have to agree to disagree (politely) on this issue.
not even going to comment......
I don’t have to disagree politely. The Bible is inspired by God and thus infallible, or it is nothing. There is no middle ground.
The idea of a literal or non-literal interpretation of the Bible is a false choice. The Bible is a book of things that are (in every detail) truly and faithfully recorded. Some of those things recorded are cases of peope lying or saying untruths, and some is metaphor or allegory, but all is truly recorded and divinely inspired.
One wonders, for instance, why the Bible has been proved correct over and over by archaeological finds if it’s not a book of real history.
I agree with you. And perhaps President Bush has become more aware of Holy Tradition. In the Gospel and letters of John, John states that he could not write everything down. So some things were passed on orally from person to person. It’s not all in the Bible.
