President George W. Bush said his belief that God created the world is not incompatible with scientific proof of evolution.
In an interview with ABC's "Nightline" on Monday, the president also said he probably is not a literalist when reading the Bible although an individual can learn a great deal from it, including the New Testament teaching that God sent his only son.
About creation and evolution, Bush said: "I think you can have both. I think evolution can you're getting me way out of my lane here. I'm just a simple president. But it's, I think that God created the earth, created the world; I think the creation of the world is so mysterious it requires something as large as an almighty and I don't think it's incompatible with the scientific proof that there is evolution."
"You know. Probably not. ... No, I'm not a literalist, but I think you can learn a lot from it, but I do think that the New Testament for example is ... has got ... You know, the important lesson is 'God sent a son,'" Bush said.
"It is hard for me to justify or prove the mystery of the Almighty in my life," he said. "All I can just tell you is that I got back into religion and I quit drinking shortly thereafter and I asked for help. ... I was a one-step program guy."
"I do believe there is an almighty that is broad and big enough and loving enough that can encompass a lot of people,"
Asked whether he thought he would have become president had it not been for his faith, Bush said: "I don't know; it's hard to tell. I do know that I would have been I would have been a pretty selfish person."

Like believing that the earth is 6000 years old and all of geology, astronomy, biology and physics as we know it is wrong?
“The President is a universalist. His stated worldview is incompatible with Biblical Christianity. I dont know whether he is a Christian or not - I doubt it - but his comments should be a reminder to Christians that we must NEVER adopt pragmatism or unBiblical compromise in the selection of our leaders.”
I would conclude from your statement above that a diest would be disqualified, according to your view of the US Presidency?
And second, to which type of Christians do you direct your reminder?
—Only to the type who believe just like you do, or to all types with quite a wide range of beliefs, many much like the President?
If you want to believe science is the creator, that’s fine by me. No arguments here, just prayers.
Why do you go to the doctor? Why don't you just pray?
Doctors didn't create me...got that???
God created me and the doctors....got that???
I'll pray to God that the doctors he created will do the best they can to heal this humble person that God created...got that???
Compasionate Creationism.
Ignorant dork!
The name of Jesus Christ was convenient to bandy about when he was trying to get elected, but now that he has come to the end of his slippery slope, so long!
My opinion is He inspired ancient man to write option A so that when the gift of intellect finally allowed us to understand how it really happened, we could look back at Genesis and realize that an ancient man couldn’t have come up with that allegory unless inspired by God to do so.
Do your doctors believe in evolution?
Jernelizem 101, sekund weak.
And God created Hitler. Do you also follow Hitler's teachings?
At least with Obama you now have a real Christian in the Whitehouse.
I agree with the President. :-)
But not any real ones.

Just tossing off from the top of my head.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
And again,
Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Those things in science beyond your understanding? Those express the beginning of the mind of God.
Those perfect, immutable laws of nature? Those express the perfections of God.
Those intricacies, those subtlties, those fragile things, those magnificent/majestic things? Those express the power of God.
Those things that indicate precision and design and order? Those express the authority of God.
The unborn, in utero, forming, bearing a unique human “stamp”, a heartbeat, a mind, a personality, a soul...all fearfully, wonderfully made...by God.
He says in His word to the prophet Jeremiah, “Before you were formed in the womb, I knew you” How beyond comprehending is God (yet He stoops to let us behold Him). Such knowledge is too wonderful for us—and yet he comes to us in a way we can comprehend—He came in Son. And insignificant man posits his puny questions, insinuates his arrogant grandiosity, he scoffs and sneers and suggests that this being, this God is...graspable! Is knowable through the human mechanisms of sin-ravaged thought! God reveals Himself by His Spirit to our spirit [1Cor 2:11-14](He is spiritually discerned.) If these things make little sense, it is an indication of the inward battle of the flesh warring against the Spirit. He has said, “If you seek me with all your heart you shall find me.” We must contest with our will that will not have this man to rule over us and even then, it is the grace of God that bids the sinner, “Taste and see that the Lord is Good.”
You, scientist, you have looked into space, you have looked into the cell, you have explored nature and you have not seen the impress of the Creator? Can you honestly report to your own heart these things that you have looked into do not have the markings of some grand design, rather than bearing the vague impress of some unintelligible force? Perhaps you look too closely down into the thing you examine and cannot see it for what it truly is—evidence of your Creator.
You are without a single clue.

I see you are not of the "God is a loving God" type.
