CHICAGO Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested today on charges that accuse him of trying to benefit from his ability to appoint President-elect Barack Obama's replacement in the U.S. Senate.
The U.S. Attorney in Chicago says ...the corruption charges represent "a truly new low."
An FBI says the 51-year-old Democrat was intercepted conspiring to sell or trade the vacant Senate seat for personal benefits for himself and his wife.

Funny that doesn't seem to work for Republicans.
They are drummed out of office by the MSN and liberals.
And they don't stand up for their rights.
It's a dern shame

I am for the most part an admirer of the President. I think he is a good man of integrity, whose staunch stance toward Islamic terrorism will mark him a favorable place in American history.
However, his and other’s brand of compassionate conservatism, however well-intentioned, is perceived by the venal political animals on the left as a sign of weakness. As I said, they are emboldened by this. Witness Blagojevich’s arrogance and over the top quotes, while knowing he was already under investigation. Better to let these savages know there will be hell to pay from the other side of the aisle if they step out of line.
“Deranged”? Check yourself out.

Oh...I'll bet he is, the only thing that might quiet him is obama's equivalent of Fort Marcy Park.

I agree that a new low in Chicago is almost impossible to imagine, but rank and file Dems in Chicago have been disgusted with the Gov’s conduct for a long time. His approval was 4%. That is extraordinary. How much of this is due to power struggles within Democratic egos of Daley and Obama and Gov. B. remains the question. I see this arrest as helping Obama immensely. He will be able to influence the selection of his successor in a way that was not possible before. Don't forget that Obama beat the Clintons. Obama is a very dangerous man. Very dangerous. Gov. B may just have been the first public fall guy since he was elected.

Hmmmm...
admirer of the President, huh? Surely, would hate to see what you'd say if you weren't.
How's it go? Who needs enemies when they have an admirer like you?

Actually, I agree with you. Fitz wanted to make sure Obama wasn’t directly implicated. That political witchhunt he did on Libby. And NOW, keeping Obama from being directly involved is enough to get him rehired as US Attorney, at least. If Rezko has enough, it might be enough to get Fitz that next SCOTUS opening.
To: Smokeyblue
Not if he wants to stay alive. Obamacide will happen quickly. It’s Chicago we’re talking about.

Save this because by tomorrow it will be scrubbed from the net.

4%? Wow! If you get some trash cleaned up in IL that is a good thing. But 0bama will be truly teflon if he has escaped Chicago politics with no mud on his shoes.

More likely that Blagojavich only took a strong stand on the Bank of America thing because he knew indictments would be coming and he wanted to try to build some sympathy/support with the loony left since everyone else now despises him.

Hes a democrat. Nothing will come of this. One month sentence commuted to 2 days "community service." Gets out on shock probation after 1/2 hour. Files papers to run for governor soon after. Re-elected next election. Runs for president.
