A friend of mine on a popular social networking site just posted an interesting message. She says that prior to posting she had just completed an Web survey on commercials about how to survive a nuclear explosion. The survey covered basic emergency preparedness information, including information about a "ready kit".
According to her, the people taking the survey did not say who they were. The wording of the questions was typical ("Did this commercial give you useful information? Did this commercial seem believable?", etc.).
As part of the survey, she was also shown storyboard animation representing the eventual live-action commercial. She saw three versions, the first of which was very 1950s in style, while the other two were up-to-date in appearance.
From the topic of the survey and the reference to a "ready kit", I suspect that this survey was commissioned by DHS/FEMA. Has anyone here seen or participated in this survey?
Getting ready for the Iranian threat?
zOMG!
Will we get instructions on how to build a 21st century bomb shelter?
Are they trying to tell us something?
Holy cow!
Be MORE concerned about bio-warfare.
Nuclear attack is not as much of a threat. Just recently a study indicated we aren’t very well proepared for what bio-warfare and THAT is more LIKELY than a NUCLEAR attack.
Two words: “chain mail”.....
Forget Bio-warfare. Look up the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic.
Just make sure you file your taxes on time. Nuclear war is no excuse for late filings.
still got my Tom Ridge duct tape!
Seriously, any kid of the 1950’s learned in school how to survive a nuclear attack
Get under your desk and cover your head
The fact that they asked “Did this commercial seem believable?” makes it sound more like audience polling for a TV or movie dramatazation
When the zombies come, you'll want plate mail instead.
No doubt about that. A nuclear bomb is many kilograms of radioactive metal which can be detected from a distance. A bio attack might just be a few "suicide coughers" who have been injected with a deadly disease who are told to spread it as widely as possible once they start to feel symptoms. Those infected will then continue to spread it.
You're telling me. My dog launched a bio attack on me over the weekend and caught me completely off-guard!
there were pandemic preparation instructions posted at my local commissary in October- also a website address
made me do a doubletake
Bio Warfare is even less of a threat. It is really a “terror weapon”. That is, it doesn’t do much damage but scares a lot of people, while Nukes can do a LOT of damage as well as scare the survivors.
